Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (Zanaco) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following job aimed at contributing to the Bank’s strategic vision, in the Commercial Division under the Retail Banking Department at Head Office:-

BUSINESS PLANNING SPECIALIST (X1)

To effectively support the Bank’s Retail Banking strategy by analyzing, monitoring, tracking and reporting on performance and managing information requirements for the Bank’s Main Board and Board Risk Committee as required on the Retail Banking portfolios. The role holder will be responsible for the efficient management of Retail Banking Heads Office to ensure resources are aligned to execution of the Retail Banking Strategy and avail well analyzed and designed, timely, accurate, concise and structured portfolio information to management and business units.

JOB PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Head Retail Banking, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities:-

  • Participate and contribute in the development and formulation process of the Retail Banking strategy and Commercial Division strategy
  • Formulate analytical tools to help with the projections for both balance sheet and revenue and all segment, channel, product performance for Retail Banking planning and decision making for Retail Banking
  • Assist the Sales Team with the formulation of realistic budgets and forecasts by providing analysis and statistical information on portfolio performance
  • Act as liaison between the Business and other support functions
  • Extract relevant business performance data for use in various business performance improvement activities for Retail banking
  • Conducting periodic analysis of all Retail banking performance Management Information
  • Monitor and track achievements against target for key metrics
  • Design and develop performance tracking tools in liaison with relevant Retail banking units and other stakeholders
  • Prepare and present detailed business performance reports for the Head Retail Banking to all relevant committees and stakeholders
  • Preparation of analyzed management information to support the decision scope for management
  • Liaising with internal/external stakeholders and attending to queries related to information requirements covering Retail banking
  • Report on customer revenue and profitability on a monthly, quarterly, half yearly and year end basis
  • Working with Finance to ensure the accurate application of FTP on a monthly basis
  • Track FX revenue from Treasury on all Retail customers on a monthly basis
  • Report on customer revenue and profitability on a monthly, quarterly, half yearly and year end basis
  • Cost Management –  working with Finance in ensuring that a comprehensive and fairly accurate cost allocation system is in place at all times
  • Ensure costs are reported correctly by monthly monitoring of costs under Retail Banking
  • Highlighting excessive expenditure items by analyzing of all financial costs and engagement with various business unit heads to ensure budget adherence, minimize costs and maximize profitability.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACT

  1. External:   Regulators on statutory reporting requirements if required, clients, other commercial banks for competitor information
  • Internal:     All Divisions

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 Credits Grade 12 Certificate including Mathematics and English
  • University Degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject
  • Diploma in Banking, Finance or Accountancy will be an added advantage
  • At least 3 years’ related work experience in Retail banking
  • Knowledge of the banking context
  • Knowledge of relevant banking applications
  • Awareness of legislation
