Job Title: Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer

  • To establish Marketing best practice proprietary methodologies, strategies, guidelines and tools suitable for
    sustainable growth.
  • Develop and deliver a compelling value proposition to achieve sustainable competitive advantage and company objectives.
  • Oversee the overall commercial strategy formulation and consolidation across the business.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and management of marketing strategies in line with all the business aspects (brand, target segments, value propositions, product launch, retail, communication, BI, …) and ensuring a cross functional approach to the business.
  • Development of relevant and differentiated value propositions tied to respective segments and implementation of major innovations in the market.
  • Embed the customer Value Management principles with the organization. Development of the base management strategies, inclusive of the retention strategy, to maximise customer lifetime value and customer base revenue contribution to the overall services revenue of the company.
  • Oversee alignment of operational targets with the business strategy.
  • Oversee execution of all marketing activities (promotions, campaign, research, product launches)
  • Build and enforce a customer centric approach, ensuring that customer needs and requirements are satisfied through appropriate systems / processes / procedures and that systems enhance the customer experience.
  • Forecast, plan, develop and review company revenue model to provide good return on investment for the business. Head the Pricing committee and oversee products pricing and formulation.
  • Monitor costs and determine initiatives to optimize resources. Ensure cost effectiveness by maximising cost/benefit ratios.
  • Create annual budgets for the current operations and projecting for the next planning cycle, taking any known changes in new products or services into consideration.
  • Institutionalise business intelligence and enhance current market research methods.
  • Support managers in the negotiation and management of tender agreements in conjunction with procurement
  • Report on results, including compilation of periodic activity, budget compliance and feedback reports
  • Effectively manages the development of direct reports, ensuring skills development through training, mentoring and coaching, talent management and the MTNZ Employee Value Proposition to achieve optimum performance.
  • Set clear objectives and manage performance of team.
  • Build talent by identifying and developing new leaders for the respective environment

Candidates Requirements

  • Marketing Degree with relevant Master degree
  • At least 8 years of marketing and/or advertising experience in fast-moving technology-intensive industries, preferably with a significant service dimension (e.g., financial services, consumer electronics…)
  • Must be able to exhibit in depth understanding of Public Relations, Communication Techniques, Sales Techniques, Statistics, Fluent English and MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • At least 5 years of managerial experience.
  • Must demonstrate in-depth understanding of the telecommunications industry, FMCG industry and goods marketing principles
  • Knowledge of cellular best practices, Knowledge of local markets, including market trends, Sales and service environment, MTN products and services, Market research, Business acumen, understanding the regulated environment and of the MTN business
