A registered and established non-bank financial institution invites applications for the position of Head – Credit

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategy formulation

  • Contribute to the formulation and refinement of the Company’s vision and strategy
  • Member of the Executive Management Team Committee contributing to the day to day running /strategy of the company
  • Assist in the development of a new lending platform and assist in the establishing and updating all lending policies & guidelines.
  • Attending Executive Committee Meetings (Exco) and ALCO (Assets and Liabilities Committee) meetings
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process

2. Management of the Credit department

  • Responsible for the review and approval of commercial credit proposals of the Company to maintain a good balance between returns and risks exposure
  • Overall responsibility for the credit management functions and oversees the underwriting / credit control of all loan files.
  • Monitor performance of the loan portfolio and report to the Executive Management Team on a periodic basis.
  • Lead a team of credit approvers to ensure high standard credit quality of the portfolio by using various credit assessment tools.
  • Engage the development, implementation, review and monitoring of various credit programs and providing training and coaching to continuously upgrade the competency of the team members.
  • Review and develop the Company’s credit approval policies and guidelines as well as participate in ad hoc projects of investigative or trouble-shooting nature on specific customer portfolio.

3. Knowledge and skills

  • Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting or related disciplines. Post graduate qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ of experience in lending activities in a commercial bank or micro-finance institution; with a minimum of 2 years at managerial level
  • Credit evaluation experience where complex credits and structuring are involved
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A team player who can manage efficiently in a changing environment
  • Team player who works well in a small and dynamic team.
  • Self-starter and strong initiative
  • Strong analytical skills and able to assess risk while protecting the interests of the company, customers & investors
  • Discreet and confidential
