mothers2mothers Zambia seeks to recruit a Provincial PMTCT Officer for the JSI led, USAID Supporting an AIDS-Free Era (SAFE) program in Zambia. The five year project will work to reduce HIV mortality, morbidity and transmission, while improving nutrition outcomes and family planning integration in three provinces: Central, Copperbelt, and North-Western.

USAID SAFE will work with the GRZ, private sector and civil society institutions at the national, provincial, and district level to increase access to ART for HIV positive adults and children, reduce the incidence of new infections, improve Nutritional Assessment, Counseling and Services (NACS) and family planning services, and increase the capacity of local health institutions to better serve affected populations.

The Provincial PMTCT Officer will coordinate the implementation of quality m2m Mentor Mother Services to women and children at USAID SAFE facilities and surrounding communities in North Western Province; supervise all Team Leaders and Mentor Mothers; and monitor and ensure quality improvement of m2m services. This position will be responsible for working closely with the Provincial and District Medical Officers, facility staff, and community stakeholders.
The position will be based in Solwezi, Zambia, employed by m2m and seconded to the JSI-led USAID SAFE project.

The position will reports to the PMTCT Specialist (m2m-employed) based in Lusaka, with a dotted line reporting to the USAID SAFE Regional Director, North Western (JSI-employed).

Description of tasks/Key performance areas

Mentor Mother Site Implementation (50%)

Oversee Mentor Mother program implementation at health facility and community level, ensuring quality service delivery to clientsAdministrate the use of electronic client management tools at facility and communityCoordinate integration of Mentor Mother services into the health facilities and community activities. Build and maintain relationships with health facility staff and other implementing partners working in the facility and the community, to maximize retention in care and adherence to treatment.Develop and implement provincial site management work planManage performance of the facility and Community Team Leaders including work schedules and leave for all site staff. Liaise with HR officer to address site-level human resource issues.Provide supportive supervision at site level

Performance Monitoring and Improvement (45%)

Conduct site-level supervision and monitoring activities and monthly quality improvement and performance monitoring meetings at site levelMonitor monthly facility and community-level data, compile and assess areas for quality/service improvement. Consolidate data and report to USAID SAFE program and M&E teams and provincial/district stakeholders. Develop and implement geo-location improvement plans, roll-out interventions to promote continued service integration, quality and effectiveness (where needed)Liaise with Training and Capacity Building Manager and M&E team to assess site performance and implement joint interventions as requiredConduct on-site capacity building of site staff and contribute to/co-facilitate in-service trainings.

Provincial and District Engagement (10%)

Represent Mentor Mother intervention in provincial and district coordinating forums including managing strategic relationships with Provincial and District Medical Offices including RMNCH/PMTCT counterparts at the provincial/district Ministry of Health level, and other implementing partners/stakeholdersProduce project/geo-location reports

Zambia Government Relations Analyst

One Acre Fund works closely with local and national governments. Our principal focus is the Ministry of Agriculture in countries where we operate, but we also pay close attention to other actors in the agricultural sector. Our aim is to share information on what we do and serve as ambassadors for the One Acre Fund brand to government. We also require detailed insights into the strategic, regulatory, and legislative issues affecting the sector.

Our government relations team supports field operations to provide vital services to farmers. It also informs our wider policy, communications and outreach work. We believe that powerful opportunities exist to partner with the government to share and implement effective policy, coordinated with our significant field presence.

In Zambia, the Analyst will be responsible for building high-level political champions and deepening existing relationships with officials at the Ministry of Agriculture at local and national levels, while also ensuring our field operations are compliant with regulatory requirements. They will also coordinate the work of local government relations officers at the provincial, district and village levels, supporting field operations in existing districts and helping drive expansion into new districts as well.

The successful applicant will report to the Government Relations Manager and work closely with the government relations and policy team. The position will be based in Lusaka, with frequent travel to our field HQ in Kabwe on a regular basis and for several weeks at a time. As one of our only staff based in Lusaka, the analyst will act as a resource and focal point for field-based colleagues in our growing Zambia team. ART Specialist/Clinician Consultant

Job Summary

The USAID/PEPFAR SAFE Project works closely with GRZ health facilities to provide HIV/AIDS services in Central, Copperbelt and North-western Provinces. The project now seeks the services of experienced, qualified and energetic health professionals to fill the position of ART providers/facility-based clinicians who will be based in the districts across the Province This position will report to the SAFE Provincial Director of Clinical Services and staff at the facility TBD.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide the complete range of services to ART clients on a daily basis;Initiate new clients on to treatment using the most recent treatment guidelines from MOH;Ensure that ART clients have their laboratory investigations and receive their results as per GRZ standards;Follow up with the Laboratory on outstanding results;Inform SAFE/Facility about any signs of drug resistance that you observeWork with treatment adherence supporters to ensure that all patients are retained on treatment and that they get positive outcomes from treatment;Refer clients who are not ART adherent to treatment adherence supporters for counselling and to develop adherence plan including parents struggling with paediatric adherence.Work with district and SAFE Project nutritionists to provide all clients with a Nutrition Assessment and Counselling serviceWork with the M&E unit and project Data Entry Clerks (DEK’s) to compile trends related to the UNAIDS strategy of 90-90-90;Work with M+E unit to observe and document trends related to viral load results for each client and per facility and report cases of high VL through relevant channels;Establish a system for daily data review on key indicators which includes reporting anomalies or data spikes to supervisor. I. Program Description:

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have funded a three-year project which will provide technical support to two Agriculture Technology Demonstration Centres (ATDC) in Mozambique and Zambia. The goal of the project is to improve the effectiveness of the Chinese funded ATDC’s as technology and innovation hubs, making them key contributors to country led, inclusive agricultural transformation.

The project includes two core components; the first will support the ATDC leadership and staff to build their management capacity and strengthen organizational functions and the second component will enhance the ATDC’s capacity to identify, demonstrate, and pilot transformative technologies in key value chains. In Zambia, the focus will be on the indigenous poultry (free range or village chicken) value chain which was selected after a study was conducted on behalf of the ATDC. The project involves significant stakeholder engagement of value chain actors including the private sector, NGOs and Government ministries and institutions with the University of Zambia (UNZA) playing a significant role as the primary partner.

II. Position Description:

The Agriculture Technology Specialist is a three-year project funded position. The position will be housed at the ATDC with the first year’s employment through TechnoServe. To align with the goal of ensuring sustainability of the centre, the subsequent years of employment will be through University of Zambia with the vision of continuing beyond the life of the project.

The Agriculture Technology Specialist will be responsible for the introduction of the four-step ATDC Technology Transfer Model for the Agricultural Technology Demonstration Centre program in Zambia.

The Agriculture Technology Specialist’s role is:

To identify, test, and evaluate improved technologies and models;To support the ATDCs to engage with local research institutes, private sector companies, and NGO projects to identify, test, and evaluate existing technology solutions which might be a good fit with SHF needs;To develop and disseminate training-of-trainers (TOTs) programs and materials on selected technologies;To support capacitation of ATDC to implement ATDC Technology Transfer Model (TTM) process, including the development of various frameworks and tools;To engage in dissemination of results from the TTM to relevant stakeholders; andTo support development of communications regarding results of technology demonstrations and broader ATDC communication needs.

Specific core responsibilities include:

Be part of the design of the Industry Strategic Plan (ISP) for indigenous poultry and manage its implementation;Identify relevant technologies to demonstrate and pilot for the indigenous poultry sector;Conduct and manage the smallholder farmer needs assessment; develop data-sets and facilitate the poultry assessment on behalf of ATDC;Develop training materials and participate in the training of farmers taking part in the Project;Monitor and evaluate the success of demonstration plots and assist to determine the technologies which will be piloted;Monitor and evaluate the success of the poultry pilot which will contribute to the strategy to scale-up implementation;Assist the Program Manager in the implementation of program strategy and activities in accordance with overall programmatic practices (donor relations, communications and visibility, special projects, reporting); andAssist in the effective monitoring and evaluation of program activities including monitoring farmer demonstration and pilot plots.
