Chief Executive Officer at Zambia National Commercial Bank (Zanaco) PLC

The Chief Executive Officer of Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (“Zanaco”) will provide executive leadership and business acumen with overall responsibility for business growth and profitability of the organisation. The incumbent will take a lead in optimising shareholder value and ensuring sustained profitable growth. He/she will be responsible for the overall direction and administration of programs, products and services provided by the Bank, including the Bank’s financial performance, credit quality, business development, operations, regulatory compliance and risk management. The appointee will also play a key role in facilitating discussions using meaningful data driven insights, which will influence decision making within the  business.


  • Drive the vision and culture of the organisation in line with shareholders’ expectations
  • Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate strategies, as well as improve processes and systems, to achieve the organisations’ aims and objectives
  • Explore new business opportunities which will translate into sustainable profitability and business growth
  • Direct the business operations through the Executive team and other major business units
  • Ensure the Group adheres to all risk and regulatory compliance requirements.


  • Commercial acumen; leadership; people and performance management
  • Stakeholder management with strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills and ability to drive a culture of execution and collaboration
  • Innovation and change management skills and digital innovation.


  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in a Banking related discipline, Finance and Management
  • A minimum of 10 – 15 years’ working experience in the Banking or Finance industry, inclusive of 5-7 years in a senior executive management position within a commercial bank
  • Knowledge of corporate governance, compliance and risk management
  • Financial management experience
  • A strong credit risk management and lending background and experience
  • Meeting other Fit and Proper Requirements for a responsible person as set out by regulators
  • Excellent knowledge of the Zambian financial services and banking industries’ competitor environment as well as banking principles, products and practices
