Position Title: Clearing Clerk
Position Type: Permanent Contract
Location: Lusaka and Kitwe
Main Purpose:
CEVA Logistics Zambia Limited is seeking a reliable, independent individual to assist with ensuring that all shipments meet the applicable legal standards. He/she will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, linked to customs clearing.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Liaising with Customers as required;
- To arrange for payment of taxes and duties
- Processing customs documentation and cargo control documents
- Carrying out other related administrative work, including handling of customers queries, sorting documents, filling and other daily tasks
- Inputting, as necessary, any job-related data into the computer system ensuring accuracy of information
- To maintain your understanding and keep up-to-date with changes as they occur, to be able to advise customers on import and export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements and all other customs related matters.
- Works with a team and reports to the Manager with frequent updates via phone call, email or whatsapp
- Maintains positive relationships with customs officials
- Ensuring a high level of customer service and quality throughout
- Liaises with officials to ensure the efficient clearance of goods
- Assisting the Customs Documentation in the daily operational activities
- Any other duties assigned by Management
Minimum Qualifications:
- Grade 12 and/or advanced Certificate in Customs Clearing and Freight Forwarding;
- Ability to operate computer programs such as Windows and Asycuda Report
- A minimum three (3) years’ experience in Customs Clearing and Freight Forwarding
- Self- motivated and able to organize his/her work effectively and maintain records
- Experience in strong problem-solving skills;
- Knowledge on customs brokerage services
- Knowledge of shipping and Logistics
- Planning and organisational skills
- Customer care skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to change
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to work successfully in fast- paced, deadline-driven situations
