The Conservation Farming Unit Limited is inviting applications from suitably qualified, highly motivated, result oriented individuals with relevant experience for the following position aimed at contributing to the CFU’s strategic vision, in the Finance department at HQ in Lusaka.

Job Title:   ACCOUNTANT

Department:  Finance

Location:    HQ, Lusaka

Reports To: Finance and Administration Manager

Purpose and Scope of Duties:

The purpose of the job is to be responsible for all overall accounting procedures and all aspects of accounting within the organisation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Budget and Grant Management

The primary function of this position is to ensure that all payments are properly recorded, and all Project ledger accounts are accurate and up to date.
Ensure an accurate monthly Trial balance is in place for all the projects/grants running in the organisation.
Prepare management monthly financial report showing a comparison between Project budget and actual expenditure, and assist the Finance and Administration Manager with the preparation of the consolidated quarterly financial report.
Provide input into the preparation and tracking of project budgets

Financial and Treasury Management

To ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are prepared and approved regularly, and all correction adjustments are done timely with supporting journal vouchers.
Ensure that monthly invoices for expenditure incurred under other projects are prepared and approved in a timely manner and all inter-project balances settled promptly.
To undertake the timely preparation of payroll with accurate statutory deductions, payments and returns filed.
Ensure weekly Cash positions for all projects are prepared and uploaded on SharePoint for review and approval by the Finance and Administration Manager.

Risk Management, Compliance and Audit.

Reviewing pf payment vouchers ensuring that they are in all material effects in compliance with organisation’s policies, as well as the respective donor requirements and the local Laws.
Ensure payments are made in compliance with all statutory bodies such as ZRA, NAPSA, WFC, NHIMA, PACRA etc.
Provide first level liaison with the Internal and External Auditors.
Provide the Finance and Administration Manager with input into the quarterly risk register.

Supervision and Leadership

Conduct staff orientation on fraud risk, safeguarding awareness to all HQ and Field staff.
Supervision of the Accounts clerk function.

Skills and Experience 

Should have a degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
Full Professional Accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA and CA Zambia.
At least with 5 years relevant experience with demonstrated project financial management.
Fully paid up member of ZICA.

Knowledge of stock management and Administration
Planning, Organizing and Controlling
Influencing and Communication Skills
Problem Solving & Analysis
High level of confidentiality and integrity.
Advanced computer knowledge including knowledge of accounting packages, Payroll, Microsoft windows and spreadsheets.
