STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An advanced university degree in Agricultural economics, M&E, social sciences, nutrition, development studies or a field relevant to international development assistance

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The SUN Business Network is the world’s leading private sector initiative focused on nutrition. Since 2010, the SUN Movement has inspired a new way of working collaboratively to end malnutrition, in all its forms. With the governments of 61 SUN countries in the lead, it unites people – from civil society, the United Nations, donors,  private sector and researchers – in a collective effort to improve nutrition. The SUN Business Network (SBN) is the private sector branch of the SUN Movement and aims to support businesses in growing the role they play in improving nutrition and support SUN countries in developing national business engagement strategies.

The Healthy Diets Campaign (HDC) aims to make good nutrition aspiration and encourage consumers to integrate healthy diets to their daily consumption habits. The Healthy Diets Campaign was launched together with the Good Food Logo on the 15th of October 2020, with an intensive phase one roll out period of four months. The second phase of the implementation started in October 2021 and will run up to March 2022. The Eating Well is a healthy diet campaign whose goal is to encourage the production  and consumption of a healthy and diversified diets. The campaign aims to:

  • Create awareness of what it means to eat well;
  • Change the perception that eating healthy food is expensive and difficult;
  • Promote the consumption and utilization of indigenous Zambian foods;
  • Increase desire to make smarter food choices; and
  • Empower people to grow /produce healthier alternatives.

The HDC comprises of three main communication strategies: (1) mass media (billboards, radio and tv spots, radio shows) (2) social media (Facebook) and (3) community engagement through engaging  community health volunteers to train community members through group visits, door to door visits and drama groups.

JOB PURPOSE
The World Food Programme (WFP) Zambia CO is seeking to engage an experienced consultant to evaluate the Healthy Diets Campaign implementation and document the lessons learned in Lusaka, Mumbwa, Mongu and Mazabuka as initial districts for the Healthy Diet Campaign roll out

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Review existing relevant project documents (including, but not limited to the project documents, work plans, M&E plan for the HDC)
  • Develop evaluation tools  for HDC.
  • Conduct evaluation of HDC.
  • Stakeholder validation
  • Produce a draft and final report with feedback from stakeholders incorporated.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
Experience

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in conducting evaluation following DAC criteria
  • Experience in evaluating behavioural change campaigns

Technical skills & knowledge

  • Knowledge and understanding of nutrition is an added advantage
    Competencies
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English and demonstrated ability to write high level technical documents
  • Demonstrated ability to work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team player and ability to work in a multicultural setting
  • Candidates are further required to submit their technical and financial proposal and a copy of a previously conducted evaluation by email to CO.ZAM.HR@wfp.org
