Lusaka Institute of Applied Sciences (LIAS) has over 10 years of experience in training health professionals at the Diploma level and has up to date, qualified over 2, 500 registered Nurses and Clinical Officers. Considering the factors of growth and changing stakeholder environment being experienced across the country, a number of opportunities and challenges have emerged with this phenomenon. Hence the College has embarked on a new strategy to maintain its progress. In view of this, the College is therefore seeking the services of a selfless goal-oriented, qualified and skilled individual to take up the following senior management position on a full-time basis:

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER

KEY PURPOSE

To be responsible for planning, co-coordinating, providing effective administration and Human Resources Management Services to management, academic and non-academic communities in the College in order to contribute to the achievement of short, medium, and long term objectives of the College and contribute to smooth operations on a day to day basis

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and implements effective human resource and succession plans to ensure the College has the right number of staff, with the right skill mix, and placed in the right jobs at the right time in order to contribute to the achievement of LIAS’s business objectives.
  • Develops and ensures effective and efficient implementation of value-adding human resource and administration strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Spearheads the development and implementation of Human Resource Management systems in the College including implementation of Human Resource Information System
  • Manages effectively the recruitment and selection of staff, to ensure that the College attracts individuals with skill levels and experience necessary to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensures effective induction of newly recruited staff to  ensure that new staff are introduced to the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic objectives and operations of the College, and also ensure that new staff understand their expected contribution to the attainment of College objectives
  • Interprets the College’s Term and conditions of service for all categories of staff as well as the rules and regulations governing the same
  • Advises all staff on their contracts administration, benefits, and entitlements
  • Manages all industrial relations matters in the College ensuring that all industrial relations aspects of human resource management are effectively managed in line with the Zambian labour laws to promote industrial harmony, high productivity, and staff engagement in the College
  • Develops appropriate administrative procedures and processes and thereafter ensures that these are effectively implemented in order to support day to day College operations s
  • Implements and monitors the use of the Annual Performance Appraisal System (APAS) at the College and provides advice to staff

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration or Social Sciences
  • Master’s Degree in any relevant Management Discipline is an added advantage
  • Suitable applicants should possess a minimum of six (6) years of working experience, preferably in a learning institution.
  • Registered member of Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management
