JOB OPPORTUNITY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions at Lusaka Apex Medical University limited (LAMU) under the Diagnostic Unit.

1. BIOMEDICAL SCIENTIST

The job holder will be required to manage and supervise the laboratory section ensuring that all laboratory supplies and equipment are adequate in order to contribute to the provision of quality health care services.

RESPONSIBLITIES/DUTIES

• To Performs laboratory tests in order to provide tests results.
• Performs complex testing procedures on all clinical specimens and oversees testing done by junior staff in order to provide quality.
• Collects specimens from required sources in order to carry out analysis
• Prepares and maintains stock of reagents and consumables for use in the laboratory in order to avoid overstocks, understocks or stock outs.
• Calibration of equipment
• Offer technical support to junior laboratory staff and medical students in order  to have competent staff for the provision of laboratory services
• Acts as laboratory /section head and ensures adherence to safety guidelines to reduce the occurrence of accidents.
• Collects laboratory data as required in order to present summaries and reports to management

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from a reputable institution.
2. 2-3 years laboratory work experience.
3. Registered with HPCZ with a valid Practicing License
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point presentation
5. Basic mathematical skills required.
6. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
