Position: Programme Officer

Placement: Zambia Country Office

Background:

SAfAIDS is a regional NGO working across the SADC region, as a trendsetter in promoting integrated effective and ethical development responses to SRHR, by enabling Gender Equality, Social Inclusion and Resilience for All. SAfAIDS is looking for an innovative, dynamic and experienced professional with a trail-blazing record to join the SAfAIDS Programming team as an Officer in the Zambia Country Office. The candidate must have outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. The Programme Officer will be responsible for  overseeing the design and tracking of workplans and budgets, takes lead in managing efficient, innovative and timeous implementation, manages implementing partner relations against contractual agreements, ensures programme quality, using respective tools and tailored quality measures, facilitates thorough programme inception and close-out processes, contributes to writing SAfAIDS materials and documentation, conducts routine documented staff mentoring and technical skills building, Maintains donor relations to facilitate continued funding and donor confidence, Monitors country operational budgets, and ensures financial compliance, Checks monthly finance reports, expenditure analysis and burn-rates, recommends actions, and safeguards resources by ensuring internal controls are maintained, ensures implementation of organisational policies and procedures, Generates timely quality programmatic, reports and risk registers, participates in SAfAIDS Regional Strategic Meetings, proactively networks with partners and potential funders, for partnership building and Systematically provides visibility raising guidance, and identifies spaces and opportunities to ensure SAfAIDS maintains high recognition at all times. The position requires a candidate with a balance between strong technical skills, analytical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal skills, which are collaborative and progressive.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Demography, Social Sciences or another relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 years SRH and HIV programming experience in a development organisation
  • An in-depth knowledge of Sexual Reproductive Health issues in Zambia is essential
  • Possess traceable experience in the delivery of CSE
  • Strong community mobilisation skills
  • Experience working with schools, communities and young people
  • Project implementation experience
  • Experience in training and facilitation is essential
  • Must have basic Research, M & E knowledge
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
