Job description:

PURPOSE

Able to drive and respond to incidents with minimum delay as well as provide ambulance services and respond on / off duty to medical emergencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive ambulance and transport sick, injured or convalescent persons
• Place patients on stretchers and load stretchers into ambulances, usually with the assistance from fellow employees
• Accompany and assist emergency personnel when required
• Replace supplies and disposable items on ambulances
• Administer first aid, such as bandaging, splinting
• Conduct daily inspections on the ambulance
• Ensure all medical supplies and equipment is in order
• Must be mentally and physically fit
• Ensure good maintenance of all fire fighting vehicles.
• Maintain record of all emergency Medical Equipment
• Ensure efficient turnout during emergency medical drills.
• Other duties as directed by the Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Must have a valid advance first aid certificate issued through a recognised institute approved by the chamber of mines
• Must have a valid driving license (Class PSV)
• Must be mentally and physically fit
• Must be Computer Literate

EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience with at least 2 years in the mining industry
