Position:   Finance Officer (x 1 position)   – Temporal

Duty Station:   Petauke

Role Purpose:  To  implement  financial procedures and policies of Save the Children  and be responsible for preparing financial statements, maintaining cash controls, maintaining accounts payable and processing of  payments under SUN II project.

Reports to: – Finance Manager with dotted line to the Finance & Support Services Coordinator

Period of Engagement:  Three (3) months

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Bookkeeping: capture all data correctly and timeously onto the GLACOS
• Filing of all financial documents and vouchers (e.g. proper PDF documents for all vouchers)
• Prepare monthly fund requests to be submitted 23rd of every month
• Ensure correctness of DEAs on for purposes of correct reporting to the Donor before data is posted onto Agresso
• Payments: responsible for ensuring that the payments are done accurately, timeously and within budget
• Ensure all payments are correctly coded, approved and support documents attached
• Ensure all payments being made are coming from the FACE ICE document and not from without
• Ensure all payments are submitted to the manager for approval by 09 hrs, and keep track that manager sends to CO by 10 for payment.
• Check all per diem/DSA allowance calculations
• Budgets: Assist programs & partners with budget tracking and expenditure
• Support to Staff: ensure that staff under SUN II and Partners understand financial policies and procedures including payment procedures and account coding.
• Provide training on coding and completion of forms when necessary
• Audit Assistance: prepare for audit, participate in meetings and assist auditors
• Attend Audit planning meetings
• Prepare Accounts and exhibits for Audit Review
• Supply relevant data to onsite Auditor

Academic and Experience Requirements

• Accounting Diploma or ACCA Part 11
• 1-2 years relevant experience
• Good computer skills and high proficiency in spreadsheets.
• Good knowledge of accounting packages, Agresso accounting system will be an added advantage.
• Must be a member of Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA)
• Strong analytical, facilitation skills and coordination, especially those in rural communities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in local language(s) essential.
• Ability to work in a team with people of diverse backgrounds and cultural settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work within communities, while being sensitive to gender and local customs.
• Clean record on child protection and domestic violence related issues.
• Basic knowledge of mobile technology

Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.
