The Indaba Agricultural Policy Research Institute (IAPRI) is Zambia’s first premier and indigenous policy research institute dedicated to analysis of the agricultural and environmental sectors while also offering outreach services and capacity building. IAPRI is a non-profit company limited by guarantee and collaboratively works with public and private stakeholders. Established in 2011, the Think Tank provides empirically grounded policy advice on agricultural and natural resource management policies and rural livelihoods more broadly.

IAPRI in collaboration with Scaling Up Nutrition learning and Evaluation (SUN LE) project and the National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC), with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will be conducting data collection exercise for the Scaling Up Nutrition First 1000 Most Critical Days Program (SUN/MCDP) II Midline survey.

The midline survey is designed to track progress against SUN 2.0 indicators in the 30 priority districts. The survey will estimate the nutrition status of women and children 0- 23 months old and assess progress made in addressing underlying factors associated with malnutrition.

IAPRI is recruiting for various positions to support this exercise.

2.Data Collection Supervisors (15 positions)

Successful candidates are expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Attend the training course and other scheduled meetings.
  • Become fully familiar with the questionnaire.
  • Lead and guide Enumerators and ensure they perform their work according to protocol and data collection manual.
  • Ensure that each person taking part in the survey under your supervision carries his/her full load of work and that all work is completed accurately and on time as specified in the data collection manual and schedule.
  • Review and validate each interview file from the enumerator before submission to the Quality Controller.
  • Communicate updates of team movements (between enumeration areas and districts) and or logistical issues with the survey manager in a timely manner.
  • Perform curtesy calls in each district and or enumeration area at the relevant points of contact before enumeration begins.
  • Oversee listing of households in the respective enumeration areas and perform sampling of households
  • Keep all information received completely confidential.

Basic qualifications, skills and requirements:

a) Zambian citizen or permanent resident;

b) Minimum of three years’ relevant work experience (preferably in research or data collection) or Bachelor’s degree;

c) Minimum 25 years of age

d) Prior work experience with fieldwork supervision and/or leadership e) Organizational ability and attention to detail

f) Able to use smart phones, tablets

g) Strong computer skills (to download and review electronic data)

h) Able to follow written instructions read maps

i) Industrious, tactful, conscientious, reliable, energetic, and capable of exercising good judgment; Centre of Agricultural Policy Excellence

j) Willing to work long hours, including evenings, weekends and as required for a short period of time;

k) Relevant language skills; and

l) Able to read and speak the language of the assessment.

m) Able and willing to live be available for the duration of the survey

Duration of the survey tentatively 8 May 2022 to 31 July 2022
