Emergence Response Technician Intern Barrick

Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the Northwestern region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km southwest of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Emergence Response Technician Intern.

Role Summary

Reporting to the ER Supervisor, your duties will include but not limited to the following;

Responsibilities

Assist in responding to all Emergency situations across site if called upon in a timely and effective manner, in order to minimize personal injury/suffering, damage to property/environment, or loss of production.
Attend training programs to ensure optimum skill levels.
Participate in ongoing education and awareness of BLS/Emergency Medical Care skills.
Carry out Fitness for Work testing and Education.
Undertake all duties as directed by Supervisor which include inspections and maintenance of Fire / Rescue equipment in line with company values, policies, and procedures
Adherence to safe work procedures and promote high safety/ health awareness in compliance with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
Conducting weekly standard tests on specialized ER equipment and compile reports outlining general status / functionality for the attention of Supervisor in order to rectify any recorded faults.
Experience & Qualifications

Minimum Grade 12 School Certificate
Must be a recent graduate from a recognized learning institution
Certificate in Basic Firefighting or Fire Technology or Emergency services
EMT qualification – Emergency Medical Care certificate or Chamber of Mines First Aid
Heavy Vehicle driver’s license – Zambian C class
Good communication Skills
Willingness to Learn
