Nature of Work

Thebe seeks to hire a Member Relations Consultant. The Consultant will be part of the Nkwashi City Savings and Credit Union team and will largely focus on Managing communications with the members of the Credit Union as well as providing support to the Head of the Credit Union, when needed. The Consultant will be responsible for the following:

1. New Member Onboarding
a. Recruit new members via:
i. Leads Generated by Thebe marketing department
ii. Your own initiatives

b. Set monthly target for corporate recruitment (employees of organisations) via presentations and open days; in line with the sales commission framework outlined in your contract

c. Come up with plans/activities to convert previously interested parties to become members

d. Provide weekly report on all new member recruitment initiatives and performance; also providing solutions for enhanced membership enrolment
i. Must include providing an updated sheet of all potential members that reached out to us with information on how the conversation towards conversion is progressing
ii. Member listing must be segregated into respective media categories

2. Member Retention
a. Develop a comms strategy alongside Thebe marketing department on keeping signed up members engaged

b. Come up with plans/activities to keep signed-up members informed on the performance of the Credit Union, alongside ways of communicating various benefits to members

c. Understand the financial needs of members and strive to ensure the Credit Union serves members accordingly; using every conversation as an opportunity to identify ‘pain-points’ and find ways of providing more value to our members

d. Build a database for members; that shows their preferences and needs in categories; allowing us to find patterns in members’ behaviour that will allow us to serve them better

e. Communicate with members regarding payment reminders and work closely with the Thebe Credit Team to track payments and ensure receipting is done properly

3. Performing all other tasks issued by the Head of the Credit Union or other appointed supervisor.

Training and Skills:

The ideal candidate will have a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in a business related field and will require the following skills:

Hard Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point

Soft Skills:

  • Must be of good character
  • Good networking abilities
  • Hard working and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Self starter and ability to teach one’s self
