Role Purpose

The role is responsible for all physiology laboratory processes, tests, and quality control. This includes managing lab operations and resources to ensure adherence to delivery KPIs including testing turnaround time and data integrity. This role is also responsible for ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and operations standards, and maintaining certification with the relevant seed association and government authorities.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

// Receiving, preparation, and testing germination and vigor samples applicable.

// Ensuring appropriate application of QMS for the laboratory.

// Updating and maintaining testing results in SAP.

// Historical Data analysis physiology lab results monitoring.

// Prepare, pack, and record samples for exported for additional tests, and keeping track of these samples for results and record keeping purposes.

// Leading and supporting implementation of lab projects.

// Conform to Good Laboratory Practice principals and other prescribed quality systems and relevant regulations.

// Ensure all KPI Measurements are supplied in a timely and accurate manner.

// Participate in global projects and innovation initiatives.

// Order and keep inventory of consumables necessary to perform tests.

// Ensure lab infrastructure and equipment is maintained, serviced, and calibrated accordingly.

// Lead HSE efforts according ISO45001 and Bayer safety standards focusing on legal compliance and identifying safety risks applying the HIRA methodology.

// Participate in compiling risk assessments and job safety analysis.

// Participate in 5WHY problem solving initiatives identifying corrective and preventative actions.

// Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, and Bayer policies and procedures.

// Actively promote the Bayer safety culture and best practices in the lab.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

// A university undergraduate degree in agriculture or crop science related field.

// At least 3 years’ experience in seed testing.

// Registered and qualified as Seed analyst.

// Qualified seed sampling course will be added advantage.

// Completion of a theoretical and practical course in Seed Science.

// Reasonable knowledge and practical experience with ISO, Labware, GIMS, and SAP.

// Good collaboration and relationship management skills

// Strong organization and planning skills

// Strong digital and data analysis skills

// Great resilience in handling competing priorities

// ACCI certification is required
