Fleet Operations Manager Thebe Investment Management

Overview:

The Fleet operations Manager oversees all vehicles, drivers, and related assets, including their operations, conditions, external and internal policy compliance, and overall performance. He/She will ensure that vehicles and drivers are being utilized to their fullest potential in a safe and cost-effective manner. Furthermore, the fleet ops manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of fleet vehicles.

Responsibilities:

Direct supervision, hiring and evaluating the work of employees as a first-line supervisor; and assisting in the recruitment of quality drivers into the fleet
Responsible for deciding whether a vehicle meets environmental standards; assignment of vehicles to respective rider suites; whether a vehicle should be purchased, accepted as a donation or disposed of
Develops and administers vehicle/equipment asset management processes from procurement to disposition
Create vehicle purchase specifications and purchase vehicles for the Mobility Fund
Establish and monitor purchasing, operational and replacement strategies and practices for more cost effective operation
Develop and implement training modules for vehicles and equipment-use and care
Responsible for all aspects of operation for a full-fledged vehicle maintenance facility and one satellite equipment repair shop
Registration and licencing of Mobility Fund Vehicles
Analyzing data to increase business operational efficiency
Complying with the Roads & Traffic Safety Agency (RTSA) regulations
Utilize GPS systems to monitor drivers; track fuel usage and track vehicle location at all times
Maintaining detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection

Experience in price, spec, and purchase of quality import vehicles
Experience in creating and establishing fleet policies and procedures; from vehicle assignment to replacement cycling and accident reporting

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Accounting
Relevant training and/or certifications as a Fleet ops manager
Minimum 7 years experience as a Logistics operator & Auto Mechanic
