Job title: Certified Nursing Assistant (03)
Department: Nursing
Reports to: Ward in-Charge
Purpose of the job: Ensuring the provision of quality patient care through facilitation, supervision and supporting the spiritual ministry of the hospital
Duties and responsibilities:
- Reports to shift on time
- Attends daily devotions
- Demonstrates a positive rapport and cooperative work relationship with associates.
- Displays a willingness to learn new skills, concepts etc.
- Demonstrates a caring, Christ-like attitude toward patients, their families and staff.
- Communicates effectively with other disciplines within the facility to ensure a continuum of patient care.
- Follows instructions when given by Nurse-in-charge.
- Maintains confidentiality of all CURE patient records and only discusses patient data that is pertinent to the involved health care provider.
- Demonstrates respect for all patients regardless of tribal origin, gender, race, religion, disease process or financial status.
- Takes into consideration and assures patient’s rights of confidentiality, dignity and privacy.
- Practices Universal Precautions on all patients.
- Maintains work operations by following Cure policies and procedures.
Specific duties.
- Serve meals, make beds and keep the working environment clean
- Assists with daily routines of ward as instructed by the in-charge.
- Washes, cleans, wraps and sterilizes surgical instruments with assistance.
- Assists in the transportation of patients to and from the OR.
- Empties all trash containers as needed at the end of work shift.
- Removes all used and or contaminated linen from ward, sluices and packs it ready to the laundry.
- Brings clean linen and patient theatre gowns from laundry to ward.
- Utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner.
- Assists patients with basic daily activities such as bathing, dressing, using the bathroom etc.
- Measure vital signs, weight and report findings to the nurse.
- Monitor stock utilization.
- Documents actions by completing, reports, logs and records
Qualifications: Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:
Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:
- Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.
- Basic life support training added advantage
- 1-3 years’ experience
- Leadership skills
- Planning skills
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of relevant nursing care.
- Friendly and professional bedside manners.
- Multi-tasking skills.
- Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills
- Basic computer skills
