Applications are invited from suitably qualified personnel to take up the role of a mechanic at our campsite based in Liuwa Plain National Park. The position is based on 26 days in camp and 4 days off OR 3 months in camp followed by 12 days off. Ideally, the successful candidate will be geographically from either Kalabo, Mongu, or any nearby district.
Reporting: In-camp Assistant Manager, Lodge General Manager & Workshop Manager.
Duties:
- Primarily, you will be in charge of the maintenance of 3 Game Viewer vehicles, 1 utility vehicle, 1 tractor, 1 jet washer, 1 generator, and several water pumps.
- Monitoring fuel levels, recording and updating camp managers on low fuel levels.
- Recording and reporting repairs conducted to the Workshop Manager.
- Monitoring spare parts usage and requesting in advance when stock is low.
- Rebuilding/overhauling transfer cases and gearboxes.
- Ensuring all vehicle faults are taken care of before handing it over to respective drivers.
- Test driving and ensuring vehicles are in their best condition.
- Maintaining good records keeping of parts movement and repairs conducted.
- Any other duties reasonably within your field of work.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 school certificate
- At least a trade test certificate in auto-mechanics
- At least 2 years experience as an auto-mechanic or a similar role
- Computer literacy will be an added advantage
- Experience in engine overhaul work will be an added advantage.
