REQUIREMENTS:
– Bachelor’s degree or higher;
– Generalist in mineral exploration management and execution, in greenfields, brownfields and near mine environments;
– Proven 10+ years of experience working in a successful exploration team;
– Broad range of knowledge of mineral deposits and exploration techniques;
– Experience in managing quality control within exploration teams is required;
– Experience in assessing opportunities for acquisition is preferred;
– Current member, or ability to apply for membership of a professional geological/mining association;
– Fluent English;
– Leading geoscience software packages, preferably Leapfrog and ArcGIS (experience with any GIS package is acceptable);
– Location: DRC / Zambia.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
– To lead and manage the African Exploration teams to discovery of additional mineral inventory within the guidelines of international standards, and to industry best practice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY:
– To ensure that exploration programs are executed according to industry standards and best practice, with maximum efficiency, and with a focus on discovery. The scope starts from implementation of generative concepts through to delivery of clean datasets to the Chief Technical Office.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Work with the Head of Exploration, Africa CEO and COO, and the Target Generation Group to build work programs and budgets for annual approval by the CEO;
– Ensure the exploration teams comply to CRIRSCO Table 1 quality standards in all aspects of exploration work;
– Manage the exploration teams in application of exploration targeting from district to drill hole scale;
– Work with the Project Generation Group design and execute exploration programs in accordance with the agreed work programs and budgets;
– Assist in the development conceptual and empirical exploration models with the Target Generation group. Ensure these models are applied in the exploration effort;
– With the Support of Head of Exploration, and the Target Generation Group, assist in the development and application of ranking systems in the Africa exploration portfolio;
– Work as part of the exploration leadership team to assess and implement new technologies and geological concepts;
– Ensure interpretations and geological models are built using all available geological information
– Participate in the review of new opportunities by providing geological interpretations and recommendations;
– Support the introduction of the ERG Global Geodata Initiative.
