Job Purpose
The Head of Agriculture Business will manage and develop a portfolio of commercial agricultural relationships, taking responsibility for the acquisition of new clients and building the Banks profile in the agricultural community. Manage the Agriculture portfolio of high net worth client accounts providing advice and relationship support ensuring optimal service while integrating all Bank products, services and resources. Ensure that their needs are met, thereby achieving the defined revenue targets through retention of existing business and acquisition of new business, in order to maximize the bank’s profitability.

 

 

Summary of Key Responsibilities;

  • Establishes and builds one-on-one relationships with clients based on mutual respect in assigned portfolios by delivering exceptional service levels, specifically focusing on a pro-active contact (calling) strategy and programme.
  • Take the lead in Face to face meetings with High-Value Agriculture customers across the Country
  • Driving revenue growth through understanding customer needs and by adopting a needs-based approach which engages clients and increases new business.
  • Growing the business sustainably, by identifying opportunities to expand a portfolio and broaden client relationships by leveraging the Banks extensive network
  • Building a strong understanding of the client’s business and industry to promote insights, enrich client conversations and deliver fair outcomes.
  • Sign up Agric Clients, and ensure that product features and benefits are clearly explained. Ensure that client welcome pack, credit cards, and Cheque books are delivered and client is active on all self-service channels (internet/mobile banking).
  • Ensures successful retention of existing customers in assigned portfolio by strengthening and expanding relationships. This is achieved by intimately understanding the customer, servicing the customer’s business and personal financial needs and focusing on the management of key accounts
  • Interacts and build relationships with Business Banking Account Executives, Private Banking and (CIB) Corporate and Investment Banking Relationship Managers, in order to provide a seamless solution to the client’s banking requirements.
  • Assist with related queries where possible, and facilitate when specialist advice is required by referring to appropriate experts
  • Manage the “Cost of Sales” through evaluation of margins, cost of service and utilization of the multi-channel delivery strategies, effectively attend to and monitor customer complaints on the portfolio, identify root causes and address at source, to prevent re-occurrence
  • Acquire new Agric business for the portfolio in line with the Customer Value Proposition segment specifications, acquisition targets to increase market share and specific sales strategies.
  • Manages targets/budget achievement through the use of contribution reports.
  • Advises customers/Farmers on lending product selection, by recommending products to meet their specific needs
  • Fulfil a training/coaching role through up-skilling Transactional Relationship Managers regarding their credit knowledge
  • Assist in upskilling new team members around processes and Transactional Banking products

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Agricultural, Economics, Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Or a Similar Field.
  • Must have at least a Minimum
    of 6-8 Years of work experience working in an Agricultural or
    Relationship Management role (i.e. Agriculture Relationship Manager)
  • Must have a very good understanding and knowledge of Agricultural Banking Products
  • Must have a track record of delivering excellent customer service while proactively looking for ways to improve this service.
  • Experience in
    building effective networks across business areas, developing
    relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the
    same 
  • A strong understanding of risk management and proven experience in ensuring own/others’ compliance with relevant regulatory processes
  • Must have the ability to Build and Maintain Strong Client and Business Relationships.
  • Proven interest in financial products and markets
