Laboratory Technologist Temporary x10 Right to Care Zambia

Our areas of expertise include HIV and TB care and treatment, pharmacy automation, medical male circumcision, and cervical cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Right to Care Zambia has been awarded a five (5) year project funded by the USAID through the PEPFAR mechanism. The USAID – Action HIV project aims to reduce HIV mortality, morbidity and transmission by achieving the UNAIDS and PEPFAR goal of 95/95/95 HIV treatment coverage by providing comprehensive HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment maintenance services in Luapula, Northern and Muchinga provinces of Zambia. The USAID Action HIV project will work closely with and in support of the Ministry of Health.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Biomedical Sciences/ Medical Laboratory Sciences
  • Minimum 2 to 3 Years Working in Medical Laboratory or Related Field
  • Experience in Biosafety and Biosecurity
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in Laboratory stock Management and ELMIS systems
  • Understands ISO 15189 requirements
  • Ability to follow biohazard guidelines

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc in Biomedical Sciences
  • Experience in Biosafety and Biosecurity
  • Experience in Quality Management System by ensuring all EQA specimen reach desired facilities and Laboratories
  • Member of Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ)

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  •  Coordinates the implementation of laboratory policy guidelines and adhere to laboratory quality in assigned facilities.
  • Coordinates laboratory quality management systems activities in assigned facilities to provide accurate results as per guidelines.
  • Coordinates with staff in assigned facilities to ensure clients eligible for laboratory testing services are accurately identified and tracked for sample collection. Laboratory testing may include but is not limited to VL, HPV, EID, DBS VL etc.
  •  Supports the processing, packaging, and timely courier of all laboratory specimens in lab hubs or assigned facilities.
  •  Supports the processing of samples at the assigned testing lab (POC or PCR).
  • Coordinates the release of results to facilities via eLABS, DISA extracts, VL hardcopy printouts etc.
  • Coordinates and monitors assigned facilities to ensure all received results are updated in source documents results.
  •  Coordinates and monitors the follow-up of pending results in assigned facilities
  •   Coordinates timely reporting and requisitioning of facility commodities to reduce stock outs and wastages.
  •  Identify areas for capacity building in laboratory services and provides appropriate interventions in the assigned facilities.
  • Coordinates certification of HIV testers in accordance with the national certification program and maintains data base of the testers for all assigned facilities.
  •  Monitors and evaluates laboratory services activities in the district to develop prompt and appropriate corrective action where there are gaps.
  • Report on the weekly and monthly performance of Clinical-laboratory HIVVL cascade
  •  Monitor the HIVL coverage and suppression rates at district level
  •  Timely preparation and submission of budgets, work plans, mitigation plans etc.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols in all the laboratories in the district as per standard.
