Manager-Internal Audit National Council for Construction

In line with our aim to effectively contribute to sustainable economic growth through the promotion, development, training and regulation of the Zambian construction industry, National Council for Construction (NCC) is seeking a dynamic and motivated staff to fill the following position:

MANAGER-INTERNAL AUDIT GRADE: NCC 3

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the job holder will be responsible for managing the development of annual audit plan and audit programmes, undertaking internal audits, researching regulations, Council policy and standards; communicating results of internal audit to the Board and management; assisting in the implementation of recommendations from internal audit: and following-up on audits for implementation of recommendations

Main Duties:

i. Manages the development and implementation of a risk based annual audit plan, which is approved by the Board, and focuses on the areas of key and significant risk to the Council

ii. Reviews the adequacy, reliability and integrity of accounting and other systems to determine their efficiency and effectiveness

iii. Reviews operations and programmes to ascertain whether results are consistent with established goals and objectives, and whether the operations or programmes are being carried out as required

iv. Reviews records pertaining to material assets such as equipment, buildings and manpower to determine degree of utilization. safeguarding and maintenance

v. Manages the conducting of special audits for management aimed at detecting any irregularities and the development of controls for their prevention

vi. Manages the preparation of ad hoc, monthly and quarterly reports and submits them to the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the Board

vii. Manages the provision of an effective audit function that provides:

• assurance that the management processes are adequate to identify and monitor significant risks;
• confirmation of the effective operation of the established internal control systems;
• credible processes for feedback on risk management and assurance
• objective confirmation that the Board receives the right quality of assurance and information from management and that this information is reliable; and
• coordination with extemal auditors and ensuring each party is briefed on areas of concern.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 School Certificate
• ACCA, CIMA, Chartered Accountant Zambia (CA) or Equivalent
• 5 Years experience in Internal or External Audit
• Certified Internal Auditor (Added Advantage)
• Fully paid up Members of the Institute of Internal Auditors

Required Competencies and Personal Attributes:

• Operating knowledge of and experience with Word processing. spreadsheets and internet
• Competency in accounting and auditing software
• Strong oral and written communication,
• Strong analytical and decision making skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
