ABOUT ZCAS UNIVERSITY

ZCAS University is a Tier 1 University registered under the Higher Education Authority Act No. 4 of 2013 as amended by Higher Education (Amendment) Act No.23 of 2021, offering Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and Doctorate degree programmes on full time, part time and distance educations modes of study. The university has wide diversity in its student population with many coming from neighbouring countries such as Zimbabwe, Malawi, Namibia and Democratic Republic of Congo. Others come from as far out as China and India.

STUDENTS WELFARE OFFICER (1 POSITION)

PURPOSE: Responsible for planning, administration, coordination, and implementation of holistic students’ welfare services.

REPORTING TO: Student Affairs Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide oversight, direction and develop work plans, budgets, monitor the calendar for all programs and services related to campus life.

• Prepare, plan and conduct orientation program for students.

• Facilitates planning of sports, socio-cultural, and extra-curricular activities for students.

• Serves as secretary to Committees related to student welfare and discipline.

• Ensures that students adhere to rules and regulations.

• Guides students on communication within and outside campus.

• Sensitizes students to be exemplary in their conduct.

• Ensures that students receive appropriate counseling services for their concerns.

• Assists in coordination of Student Affairs responses to major crisis and other unusual events within the ZCAS University community.

• Participates in the preparation of quarterly and annual operational reports.

• Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five credits including English and Mathematics or equivalent.

• Degree in Counseling and Guidance, Psychology, or any relevant Social Science.

• A Master’s Degree in Degree in Counseling and Guidance will be an added advantage.

• Minimum of four (4) years post-qualifying experience of providing individual Counselling or Psychotherapy in a higher learning institution.

• Member of Zambia Counselling Council

• Excellent meeting management, organizational and planning ability as well as customer care skills.

• Ability to pay attention to details.

• Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced work setting.

• High degree of innovation and commitment.

• Computer Literate – Word, Power Point, Excel, email among others.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent mentoring and counseling skills.

• Excellent Communication skills.

• Able to work under minimum supervision.

• Report writing skills.
