TANGANYIKA COMMUNITY RADIO STATION

NSAMA DISTRICT, NORTHERN PROVINCE

The Tanganyika Community Radio Station is a startup Community Radio Station operating in Nsumbu, Nsama District of Northern Province. The Board of Directors for Tanganyika Community Radio Station now invites applications from suitably qualified Zambians to fill the following vacancies: (all staff will be stationed in Nsumbu, Nsama District)

1. Station Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

Ensure efficient and effective daily operation of the Radio Station by providing leadership to team members and implementing the strategic Objectives and direction set by the Board of Directors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 School Certificate
• Minimum of Diploma in Journalism
• 3 years’ experience in Community radio Management
• Additional Training in any Business-related field will be an added advantage.
• Excellent command of English and a Good Working Knowledge of the local language

2. Finance And Administration Officer

JOB PURPOSE

• Reporting to the Station Manager, He/she will manage the day-to-day Finance and Administration functions of the Station.
• He/she shall be required to update the Books of Accounts and Records in a Timely Manner and Prepare Financial Reports to ensure Effective Management of the Station Finances
• To put in place Internal Controls that will protect station finances and property.
• To Oversee and Manage the Operations of the Administration Unit to Support the Development of Policies, Plans, and Strategies for the Effective and Smooth Delivery of Operations. Payroll, NAPSA, PAYE, NHI, Workers’ Compensation, and other Statutory requirements.
• To give sound advice and support to the Station Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

• Grade 12 School Certificate
• Degree in Accounts or Business, or Professional Accounting Qualifications such as Accounting Diploma, ZICA Licentiate, Part ACCA/CIMA
• Experience in Developing Budgets and Plans and Financial Analysis an added advantage
• Must be a Member of ZICA.
• Accounting Software Experience.
• Excellent command of English and a Good Working Knowledge of the local language.

3. News Editor 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Manage the newsroom and oversee the production of news stories. You will be responsible for assigning stories to journalists, reviewing and editing content, and ensuring that the newsroom operates smoothly and efficiently.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Grade 12 School Certificate
• Minimum of Diploma in journalism or any related Field Computer literate
• Experience in a similar Position will be an added Advantage
• Excellent command of English and a Good Working Knowledge of the local language

4. Sales And Marketing Officer x2

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Responsible for overseeing the internal and extemal marketing campaigns of a Station. He/She will help create and distribute marketing strategies and campaigns for the Station to maximize profits through the development of sales strategies that match our customer requirements as well as promote services, products, and ideas.

The Sales and Marketing officer, will thus, identify products and markets, suggest sales strategies and approaches, and measure the results of all the efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Grade 12 School Certificate
• Minimum Diploma in Sales & Marketing, Business studies, or a related field
• Some experience in marketing, communications, or a related field especially in relation to the radio broadcast industry is essential.
• Excellent command of English and a Good Working Knowledge of the local language

5. Reporter x3

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collect, verify, and analyze thoroughly newsworthy information
• Write and deliver news stories with the reader’s perspective in mind while upholding the professional ethics of Journalism

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Grade 12 school Certificate
• Minimum Diploma in journalism or mass communications
• Proven working experience as a reporter
• Computer literate
• Good command of English and a Good Working Knowledge of the local language will be an added advantage

6. Technician 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carry out routine, preventive, and corrective Maintenance of Studio and Transmission equipment.
• Carry out quality Sound Recording, Editing, and mixing in the recording studios where necessary.
• Carry out repair works on all electronic equipment.
• Ensure the overall smooth Technical operation of the Radio Station

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Grade 12 School Certificate
• Diploma in Electronics/Electrical/Telecoms Engineering
• 2 years experience in a similar position
• Computer literate
• Training and experience in the use of audio editing/Production Software will be an added advantage

7. Announcer/presenter x3

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Presenters are the Voice of the radio station and are responsible for informing, educating, and entertaining the masses while ensuring that the audience has a positive experience while listening to the station.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Grade 12 School Certificate
• Minimum of Certificate in Journalism
• Computer literate
• Experience in a similar Position will be an added advantage
• Good command of English and a Good Working Knowledge of the local language
