JOB TITLE: BARMAN

REPORTS TO: FOOD AND BEVERAGES SUPERVISOR

JOB PURPOSE

To mix various types of alcohol and other ingredients. The ideal candidate must be able to create traditional cocktails and design brand-new cocktails and mixed drinks and offer an efficient and exemplary bar tendering service to the customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Makes syrups, infusions, mixed drinks, and cocktails of all types to fulfil customer orders.
• Responsible for crafting original beverage menu items and designing new, innovative cocktails using the ingredients that are already supplied by the company.
• Must keep the bar area clean and organized, maintaining all sanitation standards of the business and local food and beverage laws.
• Responsible for keeping the bar well stocked and fully supplied with alcohol, and for filling out inventory forms in order to replace items as needed.
• At all times, barman must adhere to legislation regarding alcohol consumption by checking customer identification.
• Suggest cocktails and mixed drinks to customers who are unsure about what they want to order.
• Prepare all drink garnishes and keep the garnish station continuously stocked during their shifts.
• Offer a fast, efficient and accurate service to the satisfaction of customers.
• Coordinate with waiters to ensure customers are served effectively and provide a positive and friendly guest experience.
• Keep an accurate record of bar transactions and account for any variances.
• Maintain clean bar glassware to serve customers in.
• Undertake such other duties as may be determined by the Supervisor from time to time within the general scope of Barman

QUALIFICATIONS

Full Grade 12 Certificate

Certificate in General Hospitality or Mixology. Diploma or higher shall be an added advantage.

Must possess at least Three (3) years of proven work experience in similar role

Competence in Point Of Sale is an added advantage

Must be sober minded, organized, attentive to detail and friendly

Knowledge & Skills:

Customer service

Salesmanship

Communication skills

Computer skills

Excellent knowledge in mixing, garnishing and serving drinks
