Community Facilities Officer – Permanent Zambia Sugar

Zambia Sugar Plc. is a subsidiary of Illovo Sugar Africa (Pty) Ltd Group and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia.  Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.

The Company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of Communities Facilities Officer in the Estate Support Services Department.

The position reports to the Community Services & Facilities Manager. The incumbent will be responsible for Coordinating management of community recreational facilities across the Estate including Staff Club, Gym, Sports facilities, and parks and manage reputational risk related to general appearance of in-scope estate facilities.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Contribute to development of long-term strategy of Community Services with a focus on Facilities Management and General Estate Aesthetics in line with Illovo’s” Thriving Community Strategy”.
  • Oversee revenue generating activities of all recreational Estate facilities incl. staff club, gyms, parks and Sports facilities.
  • Contribute to capex plans for Community services with a focus on Recreational facilities and Parks &Gardens (P&G) related projects.
  • Manage facilities related third-party service provider (e.g. Club House service Providers) contracts with a focus on ensuring service level agreements are adhered to.
  • Develop an operating budget for in-scope recreational facilities including maintenance and operational activities of Parks & Gardens Section.
  • Ensure that all standard operating procedures for revenue and cost control are in place and consistently adhered to.
  • Coordinate regular inspections to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards are consistently met.
  • Provide Managerial oversight of Parks &Gardens (incl. Estate Landscaping) across the Estate and attend to sectional scheduled internal/external business audits also gap closure.
  • Develop Estate Facilities improvement plan to meet in-country strategic objective of “a beautiful estate” in line with Nakambala ESG objectives.
  • Develop learning needs plan for Parks &Gardens and Facilities staff.
  • Attend club committee meetings to identify operational requirements for social events.
  • Responsible for efficient stock ordering, maintaining cost effective stock levels, and controlling stock with regular stock-takes for in-house club facilities.
  • Assist in planning and implementing procedures for special club events and banquet functions.
  • Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies, and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Hospitality related diploma/degree.
  • Finance or Business management qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 4years experience in a hospitality role involving large estates, with supervisory experience.
  • Skills in Contract and budget management.
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, etc)
