Job description:

Overall Job Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to manage planned construction works which are direct under the department or under contractors and ensure that the work is completed within stipulated time frame, budgets and to OSD standards.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Oversee, manage and coordinate construction activities to ensure quality, accuracy and on-time completion of works within compliance and specifications
Coordinate, supervise and direct contractor’s schedules and daily activities
Perform on-site inspections, analyse construction progress and report findings.
Manage and guide the use of machinery and equipment.
Identify and troubleshoot issues and develop and improve corrective action plans on the construction sites.
Leading and managing the on-site construction team as well as all contractors under OSD.
Oversee contractor’s compliance with Company safety policies, procedures and programs.
Maintain accurate records, including daily logbooks, for all projects.
Manage team’s performance against set targets and competencies.
Maintain professional relationships and build strong, lasting relationships with the Team, contractors and clients.
Support all phases of construction from planning to completion including contractor bidding, design reviews and project oversight.
Work in tandem with other sections and department managers to ensure a smooth construction process amongst the projects.
Any other duties as assigned by the superintendent.

Experience required to perform in this job:

The job will require knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:

At least 3+ years of proven leadership or supervisory role.
5+ years of construction experience.
Basic computer skills with experience in MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:

Full Grade 12 Certificate.
Degree in Civil engineering or construction or any related qualification.
Member of the recognised and registered professional organisation.
