Site Supervisor – Cross Sectional Survey x2 Zambart

Zambart is an independent Zambian research organization with a longstanding research partnership between the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the University of Zambia which began in 1988, and it has become one of Zambia’s leading research groups specialising in Tuberculosis (TB) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

We facilitate quality interdisciplinary health research on issues of public health importance in Zambia. Over the years, Zambart has expanded its scope to include both qualitative and quantitative studies around TB and HIV as well as other infections and public health issues such as poverty, mental health and more. Results from numerous studies have contributed to policy and practice at both national and global levels.

Zambart staff form an interdisciplinary team with a range of expertise including epidemiology, clinical science, social science, laboratory, operations research, health systems and services research, health policy analysis, health economics, health communication research compliance and counselling.

Study Summary:

Zambart is currently recruiting staff for a new study entitled: “Global Burden Estimation of Human Papillomavirus (GLOBE-HPV). This study aims to estimate the prevalence of HPV 16 and/or 18 infection among a representative sample of girls and women. In addition, the study aims to estimate the incidence of HPV infection in selected populations over 2 years.

To support our wide range of research activities, we are looking for full time candidates to fill the following positions:

Site Supervisor – Cross Sectional Survey – Lusaka (01), Kanakantapa (01) 7 months Contract

The primary role of the Site Supervisors is to oversee and coordinate the implementation of clinic and community Globe HPV study activities within one of the two study communities. The Site Supervisors will report to the Study Manager at Head Office. Site Supervisors are individuals whose primary role is to ensure that study implementation activities are conducted adequately, professionally, according to the implementation manual and standard operating procedures. Site Supervisors regularly supervise site study team. There will be one based at each site.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Track progress of CSS activities in the community and clinic level and provide appropriate timely feedback to the Study Manager.
  • Identify and address gaps/weaknesses in the implementation of CSS and suggest a plan for addressing gaps to the Study Manager.
  • Conduct timely assessment to ensure that study targets are being met by study staff and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with health facility and partners implementing cancer screening services, ART and other health related activities
  • Consolidate monthly reports from study specific activities and other implementing partners in a timely fashion.
  • Provide monthly reports to the health facility team on commodities and service utilization.
  • Capacity building and mentorship of study team at the site
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with CSS study staff
  • Facilitate monthly meetings with site study staff
  • Ensure that all required supplies for CSS are available.
  • Check that all EDCs are available and in good working condition on a daily basis
  • Check for correctness and completeness of entries for at least 1 data entry per day per team and provide necessary feedback to the teams
  • Organise and hold one stakeholder meeting per month
  • Conduct weekly quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) testing as per SOP and provide report to the Study Manager on a weekly basis
  • Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Study Manager

Requirements

  • Diploma/ bachelor’s in public health or extensive expensive in managing study activities
  • People management experience specifically study teams
  • A minimum of 2 years work experience in a similar position.
  • At least 5 years field work experience
  • Good social communication skills.
  • Must be a psycho-social/HIV testing counsellor.
  • Knowledge of HIV and HPV research.
  • Computer literacy and ability to use an electronic data capture device (tablet).
  • Be registered with Counselling Council of Zambia.
  • Fluency in English, Nyanja and Bemba spoken in target community.
  • Must be willing to work long hours.
  • Proficient in word/excel/PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Resident in the catchment area.
