As a renewable energy company incorporated in Zambia, we have been making significant strides in the greater district of Mumbwa since 2019, bringing the benefits of pay-as-you-go renewable energy to the community. With a strategic vision, we are venturing into productive use of renewable energy to support the dairy production sub-sector in the greater Chibombo district. As we near the completion and commissioning phase, we are thrilled to welcome a Technical Operations Manager based at our headquarters in Lusaka.

The role

As the Technical Support Manager (Hardware and Processes), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of hardware equipment, including milk chilling machinery, water pumps, solar system, and electricity within our Community Energy Hubs. Your responsibilities will primarily revolve around hands-on management, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of technical issues to guarantee seamless operations. You will oversee a team of technical support officers, providing guidance and support to maintain the functionality of critical hardware and processes, contributing to the success of our sustainable energy initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of hardware equipment, including milk chilling machinery, water and vacuum pumps, electrical and solar systems, battery maintenance to prevent downtime and ensure continuous functionality.
  • Conduct regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs of milk chilling machinery, water pumps, vacuum pumps, electrical and solar systems, maintaining batteries to prevent downtime and ensure continuous functionality.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical issues related to hardware and electronic processes, implementing timely and effective solutions to minimize disruptions.
  • Coordinate the installation, calibration, and configuration of hardware equipment, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Provide hands-on training to Community Energy Hub staff and other relevant personnel on the proper use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware equipment and processes.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers for the procurement of necessary parts and equipment, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions for repair and maintenance.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and best practices for the operation and maintenance of hardware equipment, promoting a secure and productive working environment.
  • Manage and prioritize tasks efficiently, overseeing multiple technical cases and ensuring timely and effective resolutions.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary education in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and management of hardware equipment, preferably in the context of solar energy and/or agricultural systems.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing complex machinery and electrical systems, with a strong focus on preventive maintenance.
  • Practical knowledge of safety protocols and best practices related to the operation and maintenance of hardware equipment.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide and support a team in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of independently managing hands-on tasks and responsibilities.
