Job Purpose:
Responsible for providing diagnosis, treatment, health education and counselling to all
company employees and their dependants and delivery of a high standard of medical
care together with excellent patient service at the health facility. The Clinical Officer rotate
between outpatient, emergency and clinic administrative services. He/she works closely
with other farm departments to provide comprehensive health care services for patients
and their families. The Clinical Officer carries out the duties in line with standards as set
by Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) from time to time.

Education and Training

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine,
  • Certificate in HIV/AIDs Integral Management and Psycho social counselling will be
    an added advantage
  • Grade 12 school certificate,
  • Member of Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ)
  • Valid Practicing Certificate

Experience Required:

  • At least two (2) years’ work experience one of which should be in running a health
    centre a lead
  • Experience in HIV/AIDS prevention and mitigation activities and Psycho social
    counselling

Summary Duties

  • Diagnose and treat diseases among company employees & their registered
    dependents.
  • Attending to medical and minor surgical emergencies.
  • Reviewing of patients after/during treatment.
    Liaising with HR/Security in case of death in the clinic (BID).
  • Conducting medical exams on all potential candidates for jobs including temporal,
    seasonal and fixed term contract workers as maybe required by the business from
    time to time
  • Referring all those found unfit during routine medicals to the supervisor for second
    opinion.
  • Periodically examining of employees working in hazardous areas.
  • Gathering and compiling information / inputs from OPD daily attendance sheets,
    registers, OPD and other clinics e.g., MCH clinics, then submit that compiled data
    on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to supervisor.
  • Put up preventive measures/control on disease outbreak (primary prevention).
  • Conducting community health education monthly on different conditions in order
    to raise awareness.
  • Facilitate the provision of provider-initiated counselling and testing.
  • Making referrals on complicated cases or investigations e.g. x-ray, fbs, scan etc.
  • Initiating clients on ART.
  • Weekly check-ups on the K9s health.
  • Manage under-five clinic and vaccinations on a monthly basis.
  • Carry out antenatal/family planning services to employees on a weekly basis.
  • Listing and purchasing of essential drugs for the clinic on a monthly basis.
  • Stock check and quality monitoring of drugs in the dispensary.
  • Sending weekly reports to the farm manager and human resource manager.
  • Record /book keeping that is traceable at all times.
  • Carry-out/ attend all clinic administrative work.
