Overall Job Purpose
To assist in the design, installation, support and maintenance of LAN networks across Kalumbila Mine Site and surrounding town areas
Specific Job Responsibilities
- Assist with and/or lead network installations, expansions, troubleshooting and support
- Assist with technical consultation in the design and development of infrastructure network systems to ensure a robust and stable environment
- Create bill of materials, recommendations for new and/or existing network installations around the mine site
- Assist in supporting technical documentation to facilitate consistency, quality of installations, systems upgrade and recovery/ repair
- Assist in developing and implementing processes to assist with problem management, change management, performance monitoring to support effective operational management
- Adhere to and implement Group ICT standards and policies
- Assist Network Engineer with work load and/or any other duties assigned by the supervisor
- Provide relevant feedback to team and effectively communicate project status and information to Supervisor
- Designing, installing, supporting and maintaining LAN networks on site
- Assist with fibre optic/GPON surveys, testing, installing and terminating new fibre optic cable, whilst ensuring documentation remains current
- Working closely with IT Management to understand the projected vision and together work towards achieving the targets
- Ensure tactful communication of difficult/sensitive information
- Provide support for network infrastructure in an on-call rotation
Job Specific Competencies
- Cisco networking skills
- Ubiquiti Unifi AP and Unifi Air Fibre knowledge and experience
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues within an IPv4 environment
- Competence in copper cable terminations and splicing/testing of fibre optic cables, including generating the associated reports and documentation
- Administrative experience with skills to support and maintain network infrastructure and documentation aligned to FQM requirements
- Ability to complete wireless site surveys for Point to Point links and Wireless LAN implementations, including working at heights
- Knowledge of rules and regulations as they pertain to implementation of Group ICT standards and policies
- Ability to design, install, support and maintain LAN networks on site
- Able to prioritize workload to meet multiple deadlines and constantly stay on top of issues
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to use initiative and take decisive action

Experience required to perform in this job
- At least 2 years’ progressive working experience in network systems with a technical combination of structured cabling, network design, support and monitoring

Qualifications
- N+ Certification (required)
- CCNA (required)
- FOA Certified (preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent (preferred)
- Must have a Driving License
