ZayoHub Zambia is a non-profit organisation established in 2018. ZayoHub develops technology-enabled enterprise and development hubs in rural communities, addressing shortcomings in the enabling environment and bringing about sustainable, longterm change in last-mile communities.

ZayoHub established the Mafisa livestock development programme (www.mafisa.org) in 2019 in Mwandi and Kazungula districts. Mafisa has secured financing to strengthen and expand activities significantly in 2023-2025, and we are strengthening our management team to drive this expansion.

Director: Mafisa Livestock Development Programme

Lusaka + frequent field work in Kazungula, Mwandi and adjacent districts

The Mafisa Director will have overall responsibility for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of the Mafisa programme. The Mafisa director will lead: the delivery of Mafisa animal health service provision in all communities; the development of community-level interventions to support improved rangeland management; the expansion and efficient operation of the Mafisa cattle lending scheme; the strengthening of farmer awareness and skills in improving animal health and productivity, rangeland management and market opportunities, including youth training.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in the for-profit or social enterprise sector Strong skills in systems development and operations across decentralised teams
  • Knowledge / experience of regenerative / climate- smart / holistic management techniques ideally in a small-holder setting
  • Experience working to improve livelihoods of communities in remote areas.
  • Strong skills in driving adoption of new strategies and techniques in agriculture and livestock
  • Effective communication skills in interaction at local level as well as with national and international stakeholders
  • Good writing skills
  • In-depth knowledge of rural Zambia, preferably with a working knowledge of Lozi and/or Tonga.
