The University of Lusaka is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Sports Development Officer.

Job Purpose:

The Sports Development Officer will be required to;

  • Develop and implement a University Sports Policy.
  • Prepare and implement a sports calendar for all student sporting activities for the University.
  • Ensure that the University’s sports facilities are maintained at all times.
  • Lead in the identification and development of University teams.
  • Participate in the identification and training coaches.
  • Participate in the coordination of activities and management of students during competitions that the University participates in.
  • Manage all documentation relating to sports and physical activities.
  • Prepare sports funding proposals for the University.
  • Liaise and work with all relevant organisations or agencies that deal with university sports such as the Zambia Universities Sports Association (ZUSA).
  • Prepare and submit monthly sports reports to the Dean of Students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants should be holders of a;

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Sports Management,
  • Masters in Sports Management is an added advantage.
  • Must have at least three (3) years’ experience in sports management at a tertiary level.

  • Versatile in a wide range of sporting activities.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful and mature.
  • Demonstrate experience in leading a team of University students.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be articulate and have strong interpersonal and good customer service skills.
  • High level of planning and organizing skills.
  • Good computer skills.
