The Health Professions Council of Zambia is a statutory regulatory body under the Ministry of Health with both statutory obligations to regulate the registration of health care facilities and health practitioners as well as maintaining optimal standards of competence, care and professional conduct. It was established under the Health Professions Act No. 24 of 2009. The Health Professions Act continues the existence of the Medical Council of Zambia which was established under the repealed Medical and Allied Professions Act. The mission of the Health Professions Council of Zambia is ‘to safeguard the quality of health care services by regulating and monitoring the professional conduct of Public and Private Health practitioners, Health facilities and Training Institutions.

The Council seeks applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill up the following positions:

Examinations Officers x 2 (Headquarters, Lusaka)

Job Profile:

To undertake the administration of licensure examinations for Health Practitioners in orderto determine their competency to practice

Main Duties:

  • Undertakes timely the registration of candidates for licensure examinations to ensure their
    eligibility and facilitate mobilization of logistics
  • Undertakes effectively the preparation and security of examination centers in order to meet set standards for the examinations
  • Undertakes effectively the setting, printing, transporting and securing of examination papers in order to facilitate the holding of examinations
  • Undertakes effectively the collation, printing and publication of results in order to notify candidates of their performance
  • Undertakes effectively development of individual Work plans in order to monitor and evaluate performance
  • Undertakes effectively the monitoring and evaluation of the examination programmes in order to facilitate the identification and implementation of appropriate interventions, and
  • Undertakes effectively logistical resources in the department in order to ensure the attainment of the departmental objectives.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Related Seiences
  • Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences
  • Postgraduate qualification in Medical education a MUST
  • Full Grade 12/ Form V School Certificate
  • HPCZ Full Registration and Valid practicing license for those with health related qualification
  • Minimum of five (05) years’ work experience as a Health Practitioner
  • Teaching and conducting examinations experience is an added advantage
  • Goal-oriented and able to work independently to achieve results, as well as able to collaborate with a diverse team
  • Excellent English language oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to write analytical and technical reports.
  • Computer literate and Knowledgeable of all accounting packages
