Overview

Purpose:

The Institutional Strengthening Lead will support the Project to ensure success of all institutional strengthening aspects of the Project within key Zambian agencies and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) that work with Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in trade, agriculture, energy, and tourism sectors.

  • The role shall involve building capacity of priority agencies to enable them to adopt best practices and approaches to champion their own advocacy agenda. The Project shall apply a facilitative approach to the advocacy agenda.
  • Provide training and consulting to relevant stakeholders and beneficiaries on the policy reform cycle, evidence-based advocacy, public-private dialogue, strategic communications, and monitoring implementation of reforms; provide inputs for other trainings for agencies’ staff.
  • Support beneficiary agencies and CSOs in development, implementation and review of advocacy strategies and action plans.
  • Coordinate Project staff capacity strengthening activities
  • Develop sustainability plans among key agencies and  beyond the Project
  • Engage key agencies in prioritization of policy challenges

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Master’s Degree in public policy, public administration, organizational development, international relations or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years institutional capacity strengthening hands-on experience in higher level industry organizations at the Macro level.
  • Experience with similar scope as above on a USAID funded program is highly preferred.
  • Significant management experience
  • Experience implementing complex donor-funded projects with multiple activities, and direct knowledge of the Zambian agricultural, tourism, trade, and energy sectors.
