Business Need/Purpose of Role:

The Applications Engineer will assist with the sale and management of Weir new technology mill circuit pumps. This role will be predominantly focused on brownfields Mill Circuit opportunities in Central Africa, although not limited to them. Supporting the regions with the conversion of new technology mill circuit pumps. The role will be predominantly in the field, with main location being in Zambia, Central Africa.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Engineering degree – Mechanical/Chemical or Extractive Metallurgy
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • High level of Computer literacy – Pump Selection Software, MS Suite.
  • Active member of SAIMM and SACPS or MMMA and IQSA

Minimum Experience:

  • 7 years’ experience with Mechanical and Process equipment
  • 5 years’ Mill Circuit Pump sales experience
  • 5 years’ experience interacting with EPCM’s, Pump users and Process Owners

Key Tasks:

  • Actively identify new trial opportunities
  • Manage trial pipeline for new product installations
  • Provide technical support for the product, internally and externally
  • Site visits and troubleshooting
  • Implement product strategic plan
  • Gather market intelligence
  • Identify and develop new markets
  • Technical product presentations to customers and industry associations
  • Key input into product plans and strategic plans in order to achieve budget
  • Assist with the development of new products to complement and improve current product line
  • Develop flow sheet and concept designs for clients requirements
  • Assist with tenders and quotations
  • Develop key relationships with customers such as design houses
  • Support the wider Weir community with technical support
  • Budgets, sales and marketing forecasts
  • Mentor junior Engineers
  • Adhere to HSE and Housekeeping requirements at the branch and customer sites
  • Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times
