Artisan Carpenter Zambia Sugar

Zambia Sugar Plc. is a subsidiary of Illovo Sugar Africa (Pty) Ltd Group and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia.  Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.

The Company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions in the Estate Support Services Department:

1.  ARTISAN CARPENTER – 1 POSITION (PERMANENT)

The position reports to the Building Supervisor. The successful candidate will be   responsible for providing construction, carpentry and joinery works as well as ensuring adherence to work specifications and safe working environment.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • To ensure that there is no wastage of materials
  • To avoid reworks
  • To make sure that all the carpentry tools are properly kept
  • To help generate acceptable quality of civil maintenance works and infrastructure development.
  • To attend to Civil Maintenance carpentry works as assigned by the building supervisor of factory, residential and social infrastructures such as (schools, hospitals/clinics, social clubs, office buildings, etc.)
  • Ensuring all stakeholders in the business that require the services of carpentry and joinery works are effectively and satisfactorily attended to.
  • Ensuring that work orders are closed / done in accordance with requirements (in terms of quality, usage and specifications) and that, materials are available for the job.
  • Giving technical and professional advice on work requirements to ensure conformity to accepted standards for work requests.
  • Providing feedback to the Building Supervisor on material usage and works completed.
  • Interpreting drawings for buildings, sketches and other specifications.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Craft certificate in carpentry and joinery.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in carpentry and joinery
  • Experience in Building maintenance (carpentry and joinery) will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of Estate infrastructure is essential
  • Valid membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
  • Knowledge of estate infrastructure
  • Interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
