Job description:
Purpose
- Responsibility for maintaining network and voice services that support and enable business across Trident and Enterprise Mine Sites, TWE Estate and Kalumbila Town
- Provide operational/technical design, support and monitoring for LAN and WAN including the management of switches, routers, wifi, voice, firewalls and infrastructure facilities
- Management of team providing network and telecommunications services and support, including ad-hoc desktop or printer support as required
Specific Job Responsibility
- Independently troubleshoot & administer routers, switches, WLC,CUCM and firewalls
- Plan and design optimal path for new fibre installations
- Supervise fibre optic installations, testing and reporting, including GPON, OLT and ONU
- Supervision and maintenance of all structured cabling, labelling and documentation
- Design, maintain and/or troubleshoot Unifi AP and Unifi Air Fibre including channel optimization, radio interference and air optimization
- Network monitoring, performance management and continued optimization
- Able to identify and escalate to next levels for troubleshooting
- Co-ordinate and plan future installations as well as onsite cabling runs and PTP links
- Maintaining installation and configuration procedures
- Daily health checks

- Providing 3rd level support per request from various business partners

- Provide support for network infrastructure in an on-call rotation
- Work with multiple teams to identify bottlenecks and other network configuration issues
- Maintain and organize reporting information and documentation for management review

- Competent understanding of routing in a Cisco environment particularly in EIGRP

Experience and Qualifications
The Senior Network Engineer will require knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:
- Able to understand, implement and manage projects, processes and work instructions with skills to design and develop network infrastructure aligned to business requirements
- Should be able to efficiently and effectively recommend and execute workarounds to restore disrupted services
- Extensive experience in ticketing/helpdesk systems and business follow up
- Respond in a timely manner and cooperate with other members to achieve the team’s goals
- Extensive knowledge and at least 10 years’ experience in all areas of networking and communications across both LAN and WAN, preferably in an African Mining environment
- Cisco CCNP certification or higher required
- Cisco VOIP certification and/or extensive experience managing CUCM
- Cisco Wireless certification and/or experience managing a WLC
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
