Procurement Assistant Biocarbon Partners

BCP is a leading African conservation company which aims to generate sustainable conservation finance through the forest carbon markets.  We are working with Community and Government partners to help improve the conservation management over 1 million hectares of globally significant wildlife habitats in Zambia, and to benefit 225,000 people.   Most of the project areas are located in Game Management Areas bordering strategic National Parks in Eastern and Lusaka Province, governed by management agreements between local communities, the Government of Zambia, and BCP.

BCP is recruiting for the following position; Procurement Assistant x 1 – to be based in Lusaka. The Procurement Assistant will be responsible for sourcing for suppliers, products, and services, drafting contracts, and ensuring that approved purchases are cost-efficient and of high quality. The position will report to the Procurement Manager.

STUFF WE’LL TRUST YOU WITH.

  • Preparing procurement reports.
  • Following and enforcing the company’s procurement policies and procedures.
  • Preparing tender documents and bid matrices for review and approval.
    Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
  • Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, etc.
  • Maintaining good supplier relations.
  • Researching and evaluating prospective suppliers.
  • Preparing cost analyses, and reports.
  • Receive authorized requisitions from users/ departments, in order to prepare and issue Requests for Quotations/ Bids/ Proposals documents.
    Prepare and develop bid documents and supplier bid lists to obtain competitive quotations on commodities and services required by the BCP projects.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and documentation on all requests, solicitations, responses, purchases, contracts, deliverables, payments and correspondence and any follow-up actions.
  • Ensure timely orders and deliveries of required products and services.
    Ensure all procurements are compliant with BCP, GRZ, and other stakeholder.
  • Monitor supply market trends in terms of new sources of supply and pricing structures. Build a strong supplier base and stay on top of market trends.
  • Collaborate with BCP HQ and regional site offices & teams to ensure all goods and services are delivered on time.
    Collaborate with technical staff to ensure timely support and preparation of sound procurement documents.
  • Any other task assigned by the supervisor.

PROBLEM SOLVERS WANTED.

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in supply chain management, logistics
    3+ years of experience as a procurement officer or in a similar position.
  • Must be a registered member with the Zambian Charted Institute Purchasing and Supply or Chartered Institute of Purchase and Supply.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Supervisory and management experience.
  • Attention to detail.
