Overview
Our client, an International Micro-Finance company is seeing a CEO to manage the upcoming Zambian office. The Country Manager will report to the Group CEO and will be responsible for the overall management of the business and operations country wide. In this role, the candidate will be expected to design and implement a robust business development strategy in line with overall company operational and financial goals and to build and develop a high-performance culture in line with our Company Values.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsible for formulating and implementing sound financial policies, strategies and systems across operations that make work effective and flexible.
Play the lead role in the design and implementation of the company’s strategic operational direction and business plan covering short term, medium and long term plans.
Provide strategic direction in the management of company’s microfinance operations.
Oversee the growth, expansion and decentralization of the company’s
Responsible for growing the loan portfolio of the organisation and providing business development oversight and growth through the design and introduction of new loan products that meet client needs and market demands.
Keep abreast of new developments in microfinance operations, advising the business on new strategies or initiatives that can maximise on industry trends and developments.
Ensuring compliance with legal and fiscal regulations.
Have a strong field presence, visiting branches regularly to ensure operations are running smoothly and to ensure leadership visibility on the ground.
Strengthening the Company’s customer relationship base.
Develop and implement strategies to minimize risk exposure and to maintain a healthy loan portfolio at all times.
Required to lead a high performing operations team to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the branches, which includes over-seeing team development, team morale and implementation of all company policies and procedures.
Leadership and Development

As a leader of the management team, you will be responsible for leading by example and setting a work culture within your team that is in line with company values. You will need to ensure every member of your team has clear objectives and targets which have been confirmed and well understood. You should also carry out regular reviews both formal and informal with your team and annual evaluations in line with company policy. As a leader, you will foster a work environment in your team that is built on trust and high performance, delivering and making an impact in the communities within which we work.

Skills/Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in related field of study
Significant experience (5 years +) within the Microfinance industry in a similar role
Sound financial acumen with the ability to design, maintain and implement company wide budgets and strategy plans
Excellent people management and leadership skills
High levels of integrity and attention to detail
Excellent presentation skills and the ability to relate with, communicate to and present to individuals at all levels in the business including shareholder and board level.
