Laboratory Supervisor (Manufacturing) Brilliance Executive Management Consultancy

Job Purpose
Laboratory Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of a complex, highly technical laboratory including oversight and leadership of lower-level technical staff with skills in line with ISO/IEC17025:2005 and provides expert guidance, technical oversight

 

 

Summary of Key Responsibilities;

  • Maintaining compliance and continued certification of the laboratory to ISO/EC 17025 Quality Management System standard through internal and external audit participation
  • Designing, building testing, installing, and/or maintaining complex, technical, laboratory equipment and systems, which may include lasers, semiconductors, high-vacuum chambers, fabrication technology, robotics, and/or other related equipment, as required.
  • Develop quality standards and programs; monitor and maintains the quality of laboratory operations and performance of laboratory staff in compliance with accreditation standards, safety and environmental regulations, and other applicable requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and instruction to lower-level technical staff and/or student employees engaged in the execution of related research; may supervise employees, as appropriate to the position.
  • Ensures laboratory safety and verifies that all laboratory participants have completed applicable safety training; monitors activities to ensure compliance with established safety standards and executes appropriate interventions when necessary.
  • Maintains and/or oversees maintenance and testing of equipment and instruments to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and safety of performance.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment inventories; orders supplies and equipment for the laboratory.
  • Training and recruitment of laboratory staff in sampling, sample preparation and chemical analysis of mining, metallurgy and environmental sample.
  • Designing and coordinating the planning of complex laboratory experiments, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety regulations; overseeing troubleshooting and correction of experimental errors.
  • Planning Budgeting and management of laboratory equipment, critical spares and consumables availability for a remotely located laboratory
  • Provide and/or oversee the provision of technical services to various constituencies; collects and logs service fees, according to appropriate departmental procedures.
  • Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art digital technologies, equipment and machinery.
  • Monitoring usage of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) in managing and securing laboratory data and ensuring its availability

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Chemistry /  Natural Sciences or related
  • Must have a minimum of 7– 10 years of experience in the same or similar position with a reputable organization
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills
  • Attention to detail Skills
  • Excellent Verbal and Witten Communication Skills
  • Good Interpersonal skills
  • Must be a Team player
  • Must be Innovative and self-starter
