POSITION:  Finance Officer

REPORTS TO: Finance and Admin Manager

LOCATION: ZNYP+ National Secretariat

GENERAL SUMMARY

This is a technical position that will be responsible to manage and control an effective accounting unit for the efficient utilization of the ZNYP+ financial and material resources.

KEY RENSPONSIBILITIES

  •  Facilitate the recording and maintenance of ZNYP+ financial transactions
  • Operate a financial management system and implement an accounting system and  procedures to ensure full compliance and accountability;
  • Responsible for forecasting cash flows, and ensure that there is cash available.
  • Carrying out all accounting functions of the ZNYP+, utilizing a computerized accounting and information system
  • Development of system of maintenance of records and internal controls
  • Preparation and submission of application for replenishment of funds and disbursement requests from co-operating partners; and
  • Processing of accounting data and preparation of periodic financial management reports
  • Ensure an effective administration system is in place and manage financial and  administrative staff as necessary
  • Ensure that income for the ZNYP+ is properly receipted and accounted for
  • ZNYP+ primary books of accounts are up to date;
  • Ledger and bank reconciliation are prepared on a timely basis;
  • Checking payroll inputs before payment is effected.
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Be a member of the ZNYP+ Financial and Procurement Committees
  • Ensure adherence to financial and disbursement procedures of the ZNYP+ financiers!
  • Work closely with the Financial and Administrative Committee, Procurement Committee and the Programs Committees to ensure efficiency and economy in the procurement of ZNYP+ Secretariat goods and services.
  • Processing of accounting transactions and disbursement of funds as may be approved by higher authorities.
  • Prepares financial reports for the General Assembly
  • Prepares ZNYP+ Secretariat budgets.
  • Manages ZNYP+ Secretariat assets.

Competencies:

  • Proven experience as debt collector
  • Experience in working with targets and tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal requirements
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and databases
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Apt in negotiating and persuading.
  • Ability to be polite and compassionate without lacking confidence.
  • Paying attention to detail for purposes of ensuring debts are collected on time.
  • Ability to remain flexible in working environment and working hours.
  • High standard of care must be maintained.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • CIMA, ACCA, ZICA, BA in Accountancy or equivalent
  • Member of ZICA
  • Aged between 25 to 30 Years with at least 3 years experience
  • NGO experience will be added advantage
