Biosafety Officer – Permits And Registration National Biosafety Authority (NBA)

The National Biosafety Authority (NBA) is a Statutory Body established by the Biosafety Act No. 10 of 2007, with the mandate to regulate GMOs and their products in Zambia. NBA is looking for suitably qualified Zambian citizens wishing to meaningfully contribute to the regulation of biotechnology, in the permanent and pensionable positions listed below.

1. BIOSAFETY OFFICER – PERMITS AND REGISTRATION (1)

JOB PURPOSE

To initiate the adoption, domestication, development and review of biosafety standards and guidelines in order to facilitate registration and issuance of permits.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Undertakes effectively the adoption and implementation of standards and guidelines in order to control the registration and issuance of permits for GMOs and their products
  • Undertakes timely registration and issuance of permits in order to facilitate the safe use and handling of GMOs and their products
  • Undertakes effectively the generation of Biosafety information in order to contribute to decision making
  • Develops timely individual work plans in order to contribute to the implementation and attainment of Sectional objectives.

 

 

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

a) Minimum Primary/Secondary Education:

Full Form Five Grade Twelve School Certificate

b) Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualifications:

BSc. degree in relevant science field.

Communication Skills:  Written and Oral

  • Able to write analytical reports in English
  • Able to communicate fluently in English
