I.T Officer – Banking or Microfinance experience

Overview

One of our clients an International micro-finance company with operations in Zambia is looking for an I.T officer to join the team.

Only candidates with I.T experience from micro-finance or banking will be shortlisted. 

Overall Job purpose
Responsible for coordinating the implementation and maintenance of IT operations, projects, and
programs, ensuring alignment of IT services with the business needs and adherence to established.
project management principles and best management practices.
This role will report to the Head of Operations for a start but will later report to the IT Manager.

Day-to-Day Duties and Responsibilities
● Manage technology services that meet the operational requirements of the organization.
● Provide technical leadership on a variety of highly specialized project-related activities requiring
expertise in specific technical areas for core information technology systems and services.
● Review vendor contracts and coordinates IT purchases (hardware, software and services) to ensure
the effective deployment of solutions aligned with user needs.
● Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, and shorthand
long-range IT planning: implements tracking and evaluation programs to assist in the
accomplishment of established goals.
● Participate in the documentation and implementation of policies and standard operating procedures
to ensure the effective operation of the organization.
● Participate in the development of IT Service Catalog offerings, Service Level Agreements, and
Operating Level Agreements consistent with the needs of the organization.
● Address a wide range of problems involving network architecture, implementation of process flow
automation; hardware and software; server administration; wireless networking; and information
management.
● Monitor and manage systems – gateway devices (routers, switches, firewalls, LAN/WAN) systems
and the server systems (the network server, e-mail server, ISA server and database) for the
organization.
● Provide technical and end-user support in line with the organisation’s operating strategy, including
training staff and setting up of accounts and equipment.
● Document support activities, user issues and resolutions for reference purposes.
● Maintain currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment,
and/or systems.
● Responsible for maintaining and tracking an accurate inventory of all company IT equipment and
safekeeping the equipment at the point of staff exit.
● Any other duties that may be assigned to you.

Skills/Qualifications
● Fully completed University Degree in I.T, Information Systems or Computer Science from a
recognized University.
● Software engineering experience.
● At least three years of experience working in the microfinance field is desirable.
● Strong decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
● Customer Focus.
● Adaptability/Flexibility.
● Accountability.
