Mabiza Resources Limited (“Mabiza”) operates the Munali Nickel Mine (“Munali”), which is located in the Mazabuka District, 75kms south of Lusaka, Zambia. Mabiza is a wholly owned entity of Consolidated Nickel Mines Ltd.
The Mine is a modern, world-class facility with fully mechanized underground operations. To support this vision. Mabiza is seeking the services of an experienced and qualified individual to take up the position of:
Role: Logistics and Expediting Officer
Reporting: Head of Supply Chain
Job Purpose: To provide logistical and transport support to all functions of the business ensuring that all personnel, essential services, and goods are transited in and out of the mine in a timely manner in order to aid the company attain an optimal mining operation.
Responsibilities
- Adherence to safety requirements in work area and being aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures applying at Munali Nickel Mine.
- Coordinate on a regular basis with public road authorities on road tax, fitness certificates, insurance policies, Road Toll Fees and in case of accidents.
- Assess buses and drivers, manage maintenance and arrange for quality vehicles and personnel when needed.
- Arrange for onsite periodical inspections of vehicles in use with mobile maintenance team.
- Identifying the risks in the work area and using the correct controls.
- To conduct research in order to identify and implement logistics and transportation improvements to Mabiza Resources Limited.
- Coordinate with drivers, staff and management to hold meetings and resolve issues.
- Create, evaluate and manage driver duty schedules and operating roster.
- Contact suppliers to ensure that all dropship purchase orders are received and that deliveries will ship on time.
- Develop amiable, genuine and supportive relations with drivers on a personal and professional level and collaborate with other departments to solve their problems.
- Providing expediting reports to management enable effective management of the key supplies and deliveries to the mine, such as weekly reports.
- Seeking management approval prior to committing/allocation of company vehicles for logistical purposes.
- Address driver communications and provide required data to drivers.
- Notifying Supply chain management team in a timely manner on any late delivery of critical requirements for corrective action.
- Ensuring all Company vehicles allowed to drive on public roads are road worthy.
- Promoting driver adherence to public road safety, procedures, and regulations
- Ensure accurate capture of estimated duties, agent service charges, and other non-recoverable shipping costs.
- Ensure that our clearing agents are in possession of all pre-alert information for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Collaborating with metallurgical team and off takers to ensure efficient loading of trucks and reduce downtime.
- Perform all international and local freight forwarding and processing functions for inbound and outbound mine requirements.
- Liaise with Zambia Revenue Authority regarding Export and Import queries.
- Maintain accurate records of all logistics functions with timely reporting.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures for the mine logistics function.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Grade 12 School Certificate
- Diploma in Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), Diploma in Logistics and Transport (CILT) or equivalent.
- Member of Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply
At least three years of experience in the Mining Sector or other 24-hour - Transport and Logistics Operation Industries
- Required to have a valid Driving License
- High level of computer skills – Microsoft Word and Excel, and any computerized accounting package.
- Knowledgeable and conversant with international freight
