  1. Program Description

In partnership with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), TechnoServe is preparing for a 3-year intervention, Food Enterprises for a Developed Zambia (FED). The intervention aims to improve the efficiency, profitability and growth of food processing SMEs and contribute to a stronger and more inclusive sector in the country.

  1. Job Description

Major Responsibilities

  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

Overall responsibilities include:

  1. Production Planning
  • Completing production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel to various duties in the plant;
    • establishing priorities and accomplishing work results;
    • monitoring progress and resolving problems;
    • reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries to the Managing Director
    • revising schedules.

 

  1. Managing Processes
  • Maintaining work flow by monitoring steps of the process;
    • developing reporting procedures and systems;
    • setting processing variables;
    • observing control points and equipment
    • managing factory personnel and resources to avoid production losses;
    • facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points;
    • initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments;
    • providing manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data;

 

  1. Process Improvement, Quality control
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Helps the plant Manager to resolve problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action

 

  • Required Skills & Experience:

Candidates applying should possess the following requirements:

  • Zambian citizen or right to work in Zambia.
  • Diploma/Certificate in food production or related field.
  • Experience working in a similar role in food processing factory.
  • Knowledge of or experience working in food processing industry in Zambia an advantage.
  • Proficient computer skills in business software (Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to self-start and to generate innovative solutions in work situations.
  • Fluency in English required, with knowledge of local languages an advantage.
