JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Facility Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director

Supervises: Facility (Biomed, Infrastructure, Security, Housekeeping)

Frequency of Travel: Rare
Department: Facility

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The hospital facility manager, will ensure the continuity of the infrastructure services in the hospital and enable an environment for quality health care. The manager prepares, implements and assures follow-up of structure maintenance strategy, creates and implements safety plans, and efficiently manages resources. They supervise the technical team, the biomedical, water –and sanitation, electrical work and maintenance specialist, and housekeeping services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Biomedical Technology

The Biomedical Technology Functions outlined below refer to the General Maintenance, Monitoring, Planning and Management of the Hospital’s Biomedical Capabilities, in regards to Machinery, Equipment and Processes:

-Design and Conduct Induction Training for User/Technician Operations for Use and Maintenance of Hospital Equipment
-Manage External Supplier/Vendor Personnel for PPM/Calibration Services on Hospital Equipment, as well as Managing PPM/Calibration Schedule Logs
-Design, Monitor and Manage Hospital Equipment Inventory Log
Educate Hospital Personnel on Proper Use of Safety Equipment, including Protection against Bio-Hazardous Waste, Chemicals and Electrical Hazards
-Carry out Biomedical Repairs as experienced, and reporting Incidents
Supervise Biomedical Personnel
Infrastructural Maintenance

The Day-to-Day Management of the Hospital’s Maintenance Unit in regards to General Infrastructural Needs of the Hospital:

-Design, Implement and Manage Departmental Maintenance Schedules, both for the General Hospital, Hospital Clinics and Residential Properties
-Maintain and Manage External Vendor/Skilled Labor Log for Specialized Personnel
-Ensure Maintenance of a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Log for all Employees, as well as Casuals, ensuring that Staff are adequately trained on appropriate PPE Protocols and Etiquette

Laundry Management

Laundry Management refers to the Management of the Organization’s Laundry Services and Functions in accordance to the Prescribed Hospital Standards:

-Monitor and Manage Linen Management Log, which ensures that all Linen is Collected, Sorted, Cleaned, Dried, Ironed, Stored and Delivered in a Timely Manner to all Departments
-Ensure Proper Protocols in place for Cleaning Spotted Linen
-Ensure Proper Levels of Cleanliness and Order in Linen Storage
-Ensure Adequate Stock of Linen Cleaning Materials and Supplies
-Research on Proper and Adequate Linen Cleaning Chemicals, and in collaboration with the IPC Manager, make Recommendations to Management
-Ensure, in collaboration with the Bio-Medical Engineer, Scheduled Preventative Maintenance of Laundry Equipment, ensuring Timely Maintenance
Security Management

-Design, Implementation, Maintenance and Management of a Security Duty Roster/Schedule
-Maintenance and Management of the Security Incident Report Log
-Maintenance and Management of the Security Guards’ Leave Schedule
-Regular/Periodic/Scheduled Patrol of Hospital Premises to Access State of

People and Assets
-Act as the Hospital’s Liaison Officer with Security Bodies, such as Station Security Committee and Zambia Police
-Maintenance and Management of the Hospital’s Gate Pass Log for Vehicles, Equipment and Assets moving In and Out of the Hospital Premises
-Periodic Regular Training and Development Programs for Internal Security Guards
People

-Monitor and Manage the workers Schedule Rosters, and advise Human Resources and Finance on Leave Days, Disciplinary Actions and Staffing Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Degree or Diploma Electronics/ Electrical Engineering.

2. At least 3 years’ experience in supervisory level.
