Project Manager – Malaria Amref Health Africa Zambia

Amref Health Africa in Zambia is inviting suitably qualified applicants for the Project Manager-Malaria position to be based at the Head Office in Lusaka.

Main purpose of the job

The Project Manager will be responsible for implementation of infection prevention (Malaria) project. He/She will provide technical guidance to the implementation of the programme and capacity building to staff under the project. The project manager is also expected to build strategic partnerships with stakeholders in the Malaria sector, including donors and the Ministry of Health. He/She will be responsible for programme performance and ensure that stakeholders expectations are met.

Specific Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure project deliverable are realized in line with the project documents.
  • Lead on development and implementation of evidence-based strategies and investments in Malaria technical area.
  • Develop and sustain partnerships and maintains regular communication with various stakeholders including the Ministry of Health to enhance programme delivery/execution.
  • Work with the Ministry of Health to strengthen Community response to Malaria.
  • Take part in relevant coordination meetings and technical working groups meetings
  • Responsible for preparation of reports relating to the Project as per donor requirements and internal purposes.
  • Ensure high quality capacity building trainings/Orientation and mentorship on Malaria response for stakeholder
  • Ensure timely development and internal review of all programme donor reports in collaboration with M&E and Finance department in line with partner/donor requirements.
  • Coordinate project review meetings, project monitoring and evaluation, reporting and documentation including documentation of best practices and development of knowledge products.
  • Represent the organization externally i.e. MoH, stakeholders and donor.
  • Provide support to M&E to develop and implement M & E plans.
  • Drive the Amref staff culture initiatives to enhance collaboration across the organization.
  • Participate actively in any other duties assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or related field.
  • Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning and financial management systems.
  • Knowledgeable of current implementation approaches such as integrated People Centred health systems.
  • Knowledge of current issues in infectious diseases (Malaria) is preferred.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 5-8 years’ relevant work experience in managing health related programmes/projects
  • Experience and strong reputation working with or liaising with government institutions and multilateral organizations and institutions would be an advantage.
  • Ability to design and execute projects, including steering work planning,
  • Cost-effective and efficiency management of resources to deliver on objectives.

Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills and the ability to interact effectively with others, both internally and externally.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Strong skills in process facilitation and stakeholder management across diverse groups, including government and development partners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with cross-cultural teams.
